Magical Theory (Wednesday, 3/15/2006, 4th Period)

Jenny popped in a movie about a girl who'd been brought to a magical land by a tornado, and the adventures she and her little dog had before getting home. There might have been a good witch and a bad witch involved.

OOC: I was up late last night. I've just spent an hour and a half photocopying, and I'm not done yet. Sign in, discuss the movie, and marvel at my incredible lack of brainpower. ETA: I'm all about the interaction. But I wrote up a lecture, reread it, and wow, was it incoherent. So I'll save it for Monday and rewrite it before then.

Bel signed in, then sat in the back, slumped down in his chair.

As Kiki passed by to go to her seat, she winked at Bel. Bending down, she whispered, "Cheer up, Bel, it's only Angel. A good 80% of the girls in this school would love to be in your shoes!"

That doesn't give her ideas. Not at all.

His face flushed red, Bel sank further down in his seat.

Sitting down, Kiki looked over at him as she pulled out her notebook. She quickly tore out a little slip of paper, scribbled on it, and, when Ms. Calendar's back was turned, tossed it over onto his desk.

You and Pheebs around later? I've got an idea. -K

Bel gave Kiki a puzzled look, then after writing on the paper, passed the note back to her while Jenny wasn't looking.

We should be. What kind of idea?

Jenny was a certified teacher. She'd passed classes in spotting note-passing. But she was going to let it slide unless it got seriously out of hand. ~~Which, of course, you're totally welcome to do, to be honest.~~

Kiki cast a worried glance at Ms. Calendar. Given that she was the magic teacher, she probably could read the notes from her desk without even having to confiscate them.

With her hands half-hidden behind the desk, Kiki put her thumbs together and surreptitiously flapped her fingers as she mouthed the word, "Angel."

Of course, she could very well have just indicated that she was planning to smoke butterflies, but she hoped he'd get the message.

Bel stared at Kiki, confused. What did birds have to do with anything? And bagels?

Seeing the look of bewilderment, Kiki just shook her head with a chuckle. She was never any good at conveying messages non-verbally.

"After class," she mouthed, hoping it didn't look like, "Watch your ass."

Bel looked over his shoulder, but nodded at Kiki.

Kiki signs in.

Xander signed in. His shirt was a little bit... glitterated. Just a little.

Jenny covered her mouth and tried not to laugh. She kind of didn't succeed, though.

"Sure, you mock me now, but--" Xander paused, then shrugged. "Yeah, I got nothin'."

"Did hordes of chronologically-uninformed leprechauns attack you with glitter in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day?" asked Jenny. "Because really? Drenching you in green beer would've been a better choice."

"Don't be silly; there's no such thing as leprechauns." Xander shook his head. "Nadia did it; she was testing her fairy-dust dispenser for the play."

"You sure about that?" asked Jenny. "Because I never really wanna declare these things unilaterally." She grinned. "Fairy dust dispenser? Wait, you're in the play, aren't you?"

"For my complete lack of sins, yes. I'm Bottom."

Jenny started running through her mental pantheon, wondering who to thank for this run of luck, and then wondered if she could possibly hack her way into Xander's laptop to pull an e-mail address for Willow. Because Willow really deserved hard evidence of this. Jenny could send it anonymously.

"You got stuck as a Bottom for you lack of sins?" asked Jenny. She wasn't going to laugh. She wasn't. She might've smiled, though.

"I witnessed somebody's boyfriend kissing somebody else ~~and enjoyed it~~; this was apparently worth being tried out for the play without my permission or, you know, presence." Xander shrugged. "I'm over it. I guess. I got to throw paint at him; Jake with blue hair makes up for a multitude of sins I didn't commit."

Cordelia signed in.

Paige signs in

Piper signs in.

Krycek signed in.

Maia signed in.

Kiki watches the movie attentively, jotting down a few things in her notebook.

However, what is being written in her notebook has nothing to do with the movie, and looks instead like a rather plotty to-do list.

1. Talk to Bel.
2. Research illusionary spells. - Adaptability of personal glamours?
3. Talk to Phoebe.
~~4. Talk to Veronica.~~ ~~Ask Phoebe to talk to Veronica~~. Leave Veronica out of it?
4. Talk to Callisto.
5. Talk to Angel.

If Jenny were snooping, she might try to read the notes Kiki was taking. But actually, she wasn't snooping too much.

Xander is singing "If I only had a brain" under his breath incessantly through the entire second half of the movie. Even when the other songs are on.

Paige watches the movie and has a strange empathy for the bad witch, which worries her somewhat.

Piper watches the movie gleefully. It's one of her favorites.

Bel wasn't really watching the movie. He was passing notes with Kiki or just trying to will himself invisible. Unfortunately, it wasn't working.

Jenny chose the middle of the movie to read the school newspaper. And as soon as she hit the boykissy article, she choked on her coffee.

Bel looked up as Jenny started coughing, saw the newspaper in her hand, and covered his face with his hands. It wasn't possible for him to sink lower in his seat, but he tried.

Jenny tried to be serious and teacherly after that, but she might've goggled a little bit at Bel instead.

Krycek watched the movie with vague interest. It was at least intriguing how evocative of Fandom it was.

Maia bit her lip and watched the film. Seeing the film when she was very small was one of the only memories Maia had of her parents. She really didn't pay much attention to the film, her thoughts wandered to her parents and that day so many years before when she had sat between them watching it.
