Class was back in the flight shed today, with a whole new simulation. "Last week we tried out X-wings from our universe. This week we're back in the same area, but we're going to be flying TIE fighters."

"Those were the ones who shot at you in the trench last week," Anakin said helpfully, winking at Ahsoka. "They behave differently in flight than the X-Wings because of the structure of their wings. They're faster, but have no shielding, so any damage you take is going to have an immediate effect."

"Their other big detriment is that they're not equipped with hyperdrives," Jaina added. "If you can get away that way, you can shake them." Which… might not be entirely true now, but at least in Jaina's timeline it was soooo there was that?

Anakin nodded. "They're short-range, which means that if your cruiser feels threatened and hyperjumps away, you've just had a really, really bad day. They also have the navigational ability of large rocks when confronted with gravity--it's like flying an entirely different craft when they're planetside."

"Which is what you're going to be dealing with today," Jaina smiled, because they were mean. "You're going to be flying in the desert, trying to navigate yourself to a town programmed into the computer. Sooo… have fun with that."

"Don't crash and die too many times," Anakin added, nodding. "The other option is the same trench run in space that you did last week, only this time you'll be trying to shoot down the pesky X-Wings."

"You!" Anakin, there were people, somewhere, maybe, who might have been taken in by that, your Padawan was not one of them. "Grandchildren!"

And she didn't even know about Jaina, yet.

"The Order and I had some philosophical differences about the 'no attachments' thing," Anakin said, which probably wasn't a huge surprise to Ahsoka.

No, she had managed to figure that much on her own. Also not what had her unable to speak in whole sentences, which he knew.

"You said 'long story', not 'by the way, Ahsoka, my grandkid has younglings, watch out for that'." To be fair, by the time he had a graceful opening for that, she had already posted in last weeks class all unknowing. "When did you two even find the time anyway?" There'd been a war on, and unless numerous people had lied to her over the years, humans didn't lay eggs.

Anakin coughed. "We got married after the Battle of Geonosis."

Ahsokas mouth worked silently for a moment, she'd figured out there was something going on by the end, but...wait a minute.

"That was before we even...the entire time? You lectured me about Lux!" Who had never done more than kiss her. Once. As a distraction!

Anakin shrugged. "Didn't say I wasn't hypocritical," he mumbled.

For her part, Ahsoka was covering her face with her palm and saying "Master" in a very familiar, very aggrieved tone of voice because some habits died hard, especially when you'd never really had the chance to change them.

Somewhere, Obi-wan was so sad he didn't have an audience to make a pithy comment to.

He was absolutely twitchy in his cabin, yeah.

"She had twins shortly after Order 66," Anakin said softly. "Bail and Obi-Wan hid them away."

That was going to lead to some interesting non-conversations with the former when she realised what 'hid' meant.

"Because they thought you were dead."

Sure, let's go with that.

Anakin nodded. "Exactly. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know I had kids for years either."

How would that make her feel better, Anakin?

Well, it might in about fifteen years time, but right now...

"How's that supposed to make me feel better? You're great with younglings."

"Well, I didn't see Luke and Leia until they were teenagers," Anakin said. "I'm doing better with Juliet and Christopher."

Anakin, stop digging. You're going to hit the planetary core.

Obi-Wan was going to be inconsolable he missed this speederwreck in action.

"How many children do you have?" How had you even managed to have sex that many times with your sand pick-up lines.

"Four," Anakin said. "Luke and Leia with Padme, and then Juliet and Christopher with my current wife."

Oh, Anakin.

Logically more children meant someonw had t have had them, but Ahsoka's brain had been through a lot the last week and a half. "Wha...?"

You know Anakin, anyone else might have might have remembered how his Padawan was with younglings and distracted her with holos by now.

"Want to see holos?" Anakin asked eagerly before pulling--belatedly--his comm from his pocket. "This is Juliet," he said about a girl with curly dark blonde ponytails and huge blue eyes, "she's going into first grade this year. This is Christopher--" a blonde, blue eyed toddler, "--he's going into preschool. Luke and Leia--" two adults, one with blue eyes and sandy blond hair, the other with Padme's dark eyes and ridiculous hair concoctions, "are back home. Leia had twins herself--Jaina and Jacen--a year and a half ago."

Did you see Ahsoka's face, Anakin? It was the face of someone who didn't know whether to coo over the holos or experiment with Force-choking because she'd already figured out what the answer to asking if that second-last name was a coincidence was.

The cooing was winning. Barely. "Any of them..." she made a helpless little gesture, because saying some things outright was a habit she'd broken. "...like us?"

"All of them," Anakin said. "Luke restarted the Jedi Order all by himself."

Focusing on that last wasn't going to do Ahsoka any good for any number of reasons.

"How's that working out for you?" she asked instead, with just a hint of a smirk because she remembered what growing up in the Jedi creche and being surrounded by Force-sensitive toddlers was like.

Anakin snorted. "The temper tantrums are unbelievable."

"I don't know who they could have got it from," Ahsoka said, all innocence.

"You're hilarious," Anakin told her.

"Learnt from the best."

So, Obi-Wan.
