Shop Class: [3/15]

Once again, the room looks like something out of a normal shop classroom.

Weird.

On the walls are blueprints and instructions on building the scenery for MSND's play.

"That's right kids. I'm forcing you to do slave labor for the theatrical production this weekend. We need to build a castle scene, a forest, a fog machine and a fairy dust dispenser."

"Okay technically it's a glitter dispenser but I'm just telling you what they call it."

"Please make sure you put the hats back on the hammers when you're done with them."

Her glitter flinger was a success! She had clues to look for this odd "Once-ler" guy and whatever the heck a "lorax" was! She was determined to make the fog machine work for her, too!

. . .

Of course, by the end of class, she'd managed to create quite a lovely, dense cloud of fog in her immediate area, but was not yet able to figure out how to a) turn the fog machine off or b) even turn down the amount of fog produced. She had a sneaking suspicion that c) she would smell like maple syrup for the rest of her life.

"It has to smell like something or the people in the theater would think it was smoke from a fire and panic."

[ooc: this is true, actually. And no matter what the bottle says it smells like, fog for fog machines ALWAYS smells like maple syrup.]

After spending all of the day before in bed, Sam walked into class, more or less prepared to get down to work. The turtleneck sweater she was wearing was hopefully high-necked enough to hide the bruises.

"Hey, Nadia? Mind if I lend a hand?"

She was also having quite the craving for waffles.

Nadia coughed slightly on the fog. "Um, okay, can you figure out how to turn it off?"

Sam coughed, as well. "I hope so. Want to see if there's something to use as a fan while I do that?"

"Sure," Nadia stood and stepped out of the fog. "Mac? Is there a fan anywhere?"

She sincerely hoped he might give her a normal answer this time.

While Nadia looked for the fan, Sam grabbed a couple of screwdrivers and began to open the back of Nadia's contraption.

She looked at the wiring, then headed over to the wall and began unscrewing the light switch cover.

Sam nodded. It hurt to talk too much. "Yeah. I, um, need a note, though, if you would. I missed ACJ yesterday."

"How's your leg?"

"Thanks." She slid the note into her pocket.

"I spent yesterday in bed," Sam replied, smiling slightly, "I swear."

"I'll be fi..." Sam trailed off, eyeing Mac suspiciously and familiar with the expression from Jack O'Neill's face. "Why do you look so guilty?"

Okay, so that explained the Danger Shop....

"Don't blame yourself, Mac," Sam replied, shrugging, "She and I have quite the history. This was actually about something else--one of her grandiose plans didn't go the way she wanted it to, I challenged her, and you saw the result."

"It's over and done. I'll be fine in a couple of days." She was getting a little tired of always being injured, though. That felt a little too familiar. "Not sure I'll be going back to Tactics of War, though."
