"Good afternoon, guys. I hope you all enjoyed your break," Daniel said.

"Today, I want to talk about the pyramids. Egypt's pyramids served as tombs for her dead kings. ~~And also as landing sites for alien ships, but we're not going to be going into that.~~ The focus of a complex of ritual buildings, the pyramid was the magical powerhouse where the mummified pharaoh would attain eternal life.

The first pyramid was Djoser's Step Pyramid, built not long after Egypt had become a unified land, in approximately 3000 BC. The Great Pyramid of Khufu, at Giza, was raised a century later. But these pyramids did not come from a technological void. A clear evolution can be traced from the most ancient prehistoric graves to the splendours of the Giza plateau.

"The wall paintings in many of the mastaba depict everyday life in Ancient Egypt," Molly offered.

"Which is really cool since the pyramids mostly have pictures of royal life and the man." Blair grinned and then leaned over to whisper at Molly. "Good answer!"

"Thanks," she whispered back. "Not very ofter I actually answer before you or someone else beat me to the answers I know."

Blair frowned. "I'm sorry Molly, I guess I get too excited sometimes. Just throw paper at me if I'm being too much of a geek next time, okay?"

"I was just teasing, Blair," Molly told him with a grin. "You know way more about this than I do. I may take you up on the paper throwing thing though. If I ever want to show off in class," she teased.

"Just let me know when are getting ready to show off and I'll bring head protection." Blair laughed. "Hey, could I ask you a favor?"

Molly snickered.

"Sure," she said to his question. "What do you need?"

"I was wondering if I could take you up on your offer to help me work on my lines?"

"Of course. I have a class 7th period, but I could do it after that."

"Awesome! I'll meet you in the 4th floor common room, okay?"

[ooc: I know it's weird, but I always get this sense of accomplishment when we tie all the threads together! ;) ]

"Yeah, okay," Molly said with a nod.

"It's not just royal life though, Blair, although yes, that was certainly a featured subject. Care to hazard a guess as to what their most popular theme was?" Daniel grinned.

"Maybe being rich and powerful and building their empire on the backs of the poor slaves?"

"Sex?" mused Pippi. Who had a similar discussion in Creature Languages on Monday.

Daniel coughed, and turned slightly red. "Good guess. But in fact it's religion, which we'll be looking at either next lesson or next week," he said. "Unfortunately" he muttered to himself.

"Good, Molly," Daniel nodded. "The Ancient Egyptians would decorate the walls of their palaces, homes and tombs. The ancient Egyptians created paintings in the tombs to make the afterlife of the deceased a pleasant place and so beautiful paintings were created."
