Around The World in Sixteen Challenges, Thursday

Class would find themselves between large skyscrapers, near a bridge over the river. The skies were clear and the weather was... crisp. Crisp was a good word for it.

"Welcome to Chicago," Obi-Wan said, "One of the larger cities of the United States. It is sometimes called the Windy City, and it sits at the edge of a rather large lake." Beat. "Not that that is particularly relevant to us today."

"We will not make you swim the lake," Anakin agreed in a tone that seemed to imply that the students be grateful for this bit of charity. "Instead we will make sure you get proper exercise at a baseball park."

"When you have completed this task, we will venture from the city into the suburbs," Obi-Wan said, "Where you must seek out your final task together."

"It doesn't involve dancing," Anakin said with a small smile.

So prepare to eat, kids.

"Now please," said Obi-Wan, "We can't miss our ride to Wrigley Field..."

Have you had enough stairs during your time in this class? Anakin doesn't think so. Wrigley Field still has a manual scoreboard sitting above the field, and it takes quite a trip to get up there.

Up the stairs to the bleachers. Down the concourse. Up way, way to the bleachers. And then up a ladder into the scoreboard.

Go all the way up, take a picture of the view, and come back down for your next assignment!

TEAM CHALLENGE: Suburb Crawl

The area around Chicago is a large spread of suburb, going on for miles and miles. Once the shuttle drops you off outside the city, it's up to you and your team to find one particular restaurant... somewhere across an expanse of several suburbs with nearly-interchangable names.

I worked in Oak Park for 7 years, and every single time I had to say the name of the suburb I ALMOST said "Oakbrook." So I feel you on the nearly identical names.

I spent literal years attempting to tell my parents What I Did In The Chicago Burbs and being like, "Willowbrook-- No, Willowoak? Is that a thing? No, wait, Oakbrook--"

Of course, all my parents ever really wanted to know was why I hadn't taken a 'day trip up to Niagara' yet.

Idk what you're talking about. Between Oakbrook, Oak Park, Oak Forest, and Oak Lawn... it all makes perfect sense.

I can live with the other Oaks. I think the big issues with Park and -brook is the k sound at the end, and the fact that my first year at that job I would drive through Oakbrook to get to Oak Park. That tied them together in my head even more.
