Political Campaigning, 4th Period, 3/14

Logan sat on the desk at the front of the class. "Hey," he said, once everyone was there and had signed in. "Bit of advice - never make deathbed promises to Angel. He'll make you follow through. Okay, today we were scheduled to start the midterm project, but since I'm the substitute's substitute, I don't have any idea what that was supposed to be. So I am clinging to the tradition of substitutes everywhere and am showing a vaguely relevant movie."

He picked up the remote control and pointed at the first person who signed in. "How many days left until the election?"

After the answer, he pressed play on Wag the Dog.

Due to an odd temporal flux, the entire movie is shown and the class still ends 50 minutes after it began.

Jake signed in, and then gave Logan a blank look. "240-something?"

"232," Rory whispered.

Logan gave Rory his most authoritative look. "I'm sorry, Ms. Gilmore, are you Jake Gavin today?"

"What?" Rory asked innocently. "Um, no...what are you talking about, Lo - Mr. Echolls?"

"I could be Rory?" Jake suggested, equally innocently.

"You could indeed be Rory," Logan acknowledged. "But as you are sitting right here, you are clearly not Rory, unless your freaky mutie thing lets you split in two as well as change shape."

"I'm talking about you giving Mr. Gavin here the answer," Logan replied. "How do you think he's ever going to learn if you help him cheat?"

"I wasn't helping him cheat. I was supplying him with the answer because he had already established he didn't know it," Rory replied.

"I thought his name was Donna?" Parker pouted. "I'm so confused."

Rory signed in.

Parker signed in

Callisto signed in.

Alanna signed in.

Elizabeth signed in.

Parker threw popcorn kernels at Logan, just to see if having them land on his face would wake him up.

Perhaps it was bordem, perhaps it was a deathwish, but Callisto flicked a note onto Parker's desk.

Hey, at least there where worse people you could have kissed.

Logan for instance.

Parker coughed and choked on her popcorn, then gave Callisto a look full of horror. Quickly she scribbled back:

What did I ever do to you to deserve *that* mental image?

Just trying to help.

I mean if you ever get worried about whether doing something with you-know-who is a bad idea, just think of getting snuggly with Logan and you'll feel much better about it.

Parker made an ack-face.

You should go into counseling for the manically depressed. Really. I feel soooo much better. Ugh. Logan. Snuggly. Ugh!

Snuggly is fun! Callisto wrote with the authourity of someone who'd spent a chunk of the morning doing just that. You should try it with ~~Logan~~ Jarod sometime.

Parker choked again at the ~~Logan~~, then turned screaming scarlet at the second part.

He hugs well.

Parker really should learn to be specific when Callisto was on this kind of mood.

Hugs are good. ~~Which he, Logan or Jarod?~~

Parker threw a napking at Callisto's head, and followed it up with a full handful of popcorn before writing:

JAROD. Don't wanna know how Logan hugs! Yak!

Logan batted away the kernels without opening his eyes. He stabbed a finger into the air and muttered, "I could give you detention!"

Parker snickered, very quietly.

Randomly: That is the first full length movie that I ever saw that was in English. Somehow, I still love it.
