Sociology of Violence

Grissom hands out the midterm. It has two sections, multiple choice, and an essay portion.

The essay question reads as follows: Now that you've had the chance to speak to Mr. Fraser, the school's head of security, and using what you have learned in this class, what recommendations would you make to him when it comes to this school's safety? Please provide at least one method of security in your answer, whether is be a rule or restriction, a defense mechanism, etc. and justify your reponse.

Sociology of the Paranormal

Grissom hands out the midterm. It has two sections, multiple choice, and an essay portion.

The essay question reads as follows: A close friend comes to you, and tells you that they have experienced a paranormal event, one that you find difficult to believe actually happened even in Fandom. What is your reaction? And how would that reaction affect both you, and the person in question?

OOC:

So, there are two parts.

#1) Please give me a letter grade, or some approximation thereof, of how your character did on the multiple choice. Let's say there are 30 questions, of varying difficulty, if you want to get that detailed. Otherwise, I make the grade up, and it will be bad, because I am mean and out of soda today.

#2) You can actually write the essay, briefly describe the contents of the essay (Bob writes an essay on installing a death ray laser on the roof of the building, as a safety precaution for the next attack of not-quite-living.) or even handwave it, but Grissom or maybe his TAs in chat tonight if they're around, mwa ha ha! is going to grade it. The grades will be averaged, 50/50, and Wednesday the students will get their grades.

Just to shake things up a little. Oh, and any of the characters that had crazy-ass Spring Breaks, and didn't get their studying in even though they are an A type of student, feel free to have them do poorly, there will be an creepy lab type in-class extra-credit thing next Monday. (Mwa ha ha)

Multiple choice: A (the TA must set a good example)

Essay: Blah blah blah I would probably think at first that the close friend was pulling a prank on me. But if they insisted they were serious, I would help figure out what was going on. Tra la la.

Multiple choice: B. (She didn't study.)

Essay: Angela writes that she would try to help her friend find a logical explanation; if there wasn't one, she would try to accept her friend's story about what had happened.

#1: A (Marty had free time when Angel was dying (OMG)
#2: Marty writes an essay about how to be a supporting friend and walk the person through the event step by step in order to prove or disprove whether the supernatural event happened.

He then doodles a ferret at the end of his essay question. No reason whatsoever.

Multiple Choice- C, she was too busy trying to work out how to save Angel's life with her sisters and before that was upset to study.

She also writes a completely handwavey essay cos the mun is just not well.

Multiple Choice - A

Essay--

Phoebe writes an essay on how she'd be supportive of her friend and try to help prove what might have happened or not happened. After all, some things have to be believed to be seen.

#1. Mac fills in the multiple choice. She might have made a few guesses at random though, but she figures she got at a B/B+. Its not like she's been out much since she got back from England.

#2. She writes her essay, the jist of which is that she would probably give the person the benefit of the doubt, at least until it was unequivically proven one way or the other. Anything is possible after all.

Lana does extremely well on the multiple choice section as she studied quite a bit while it was quiet at work and while she was sitting with Angel while he slept. She definitely got an A.

For her essay she writes about being supportive of her friend, listening to everything they have to say and being willing to keep an open mind. She goes on to talk about different ways they might try to prove or disprove what had happened and might also have mentioned that she would find it hard to believe that something could happen at Fandom that was unbelievable.

Multiple choice: A-

Honestly? I don't think it would matter if someone close to me had some paranormal event. Seriously. you have no idea.

Multiple Choice: A, damn those type A students and their study habits.

Essay: Walter writes about trying to determine if his friend had ingested any illicit substances, checking them for head injuries, and requesting a detailed accounting of everything they'd experienced.

Multiple Choice: B-/B

Essay: Cordelia writes that if the person was honestly a close friend, then she would trust them and do all that she could do help them, if they needed counselling or help killing zombies, or whatever. Cuz that's what friends are for. Killin'.

Multiple guess: B, as she still has her head stuck in her book which, incidentially, was a biography of Pope John Paul II.

Essay: Here, she pauses, thinking about the stories she heard after the Drazi Day of the Dead Celebration aboard Babylon 5. When she begins writing, she draws on that experience. The basic gist of the essay is that she would reach out a bit with her telepathic abilities, using them more as an emotional thermometer, and dtermine whether or not her friend believed what they were saying. After that, she would probably have them elaborate further and help them get to the bottom of the situation -- real or imagined. [Jinkies!]

Multiple choice: B/B+ Some of the answers are obviously rather random, but he gets most of it right, especially if it has to do with how other people think.

Essay: Jake writes an essay on how he'd bring that person to a coffee place and then taking notes on what the person says, while making out that he believes (whether he really does or not), and then checking the facts before deciding if said person is batshit insane.

Multiple Choice: A.

For the essay, Stark writes that he would probably freak out at first and maybe accuse the person of lying, because freaking out is just what he does and he did accuse Chiana of lying when she told him a certain blue plant was alive and well and living in Fandom. But after calming down, he'd probably listen to the person and try to figure out what was going on. As for how that might affect everyone involved, well, his freaking out is generally a bad thing for everyone and would just end up making him feel bad for doing it and it would annoy the other person.

[identity profile] dorky-broots.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Multiple choice: B. Broots studied some during break, but mostly he slept and played with his laptop.

Essay: Broots wrote about how it would really depend on who it was.
