Weapon Safety and Skills, Wednesday, 3rd Period

Sam had gathered his class into a regular classroom today, and waited for everyone to settle down before looking his students over. "Hey everyone. For those of you I haven't had a chance to teach yet, I'm Sam Winchester, and this class is about weapon safety, and weapon skills. If you have a lot of experience with weapons, hopefully you'll enjoy the practice. If you don't have much experience at all, then you're going to learn how to wield some things without losing any fingers, or taking anyone else's off in the process. For the most part, we'll be meeting in the Danger Shop, for extra protection against hurting ourselves." You were all welcome in advance. "Today, I want to get to know you a little, so we're going to do the introduction thing. I want names, what kind of experience you have with weapons, if any, and what kind of weapons you might want to learn about this semester. With the Danger Shop programming, our options are kind of endless."

Name, experience, what do you want to learn?

Sam was kind of hoping someone would ask for the weapons from Space Battles, just because he wanted to see if he could get the Danger Shop programming to do it.

"I'm Mara Jade," she said, "and most of the experience I have with weapons I've gotten here at school."

She frowned. "I've had some weird classes."

She was also an amazing liar. She knew weapons. This was mostly about assessing the other students.

"I'd like to learn how to use knives."

"Name's Eggsy." It was Gary on the official documents. But no one wanted to be called Gary. No one. "Experience is whatever shit I've seen in the neighborhood."

Which was not space weapons. Sorry, Sam.

"Lookin' into joining the Royal Marines after school, so anything with guns might be of use."

"I'm Skaar," Skaar said. "I've used most of the big, sharp weapons you can think of. Plenty of big, bludgeoning weapons, too. I'm most proficient with swords. I'd like to get more experience with ranged weapons, if we can even find a gun that will fit my hand." A hand that was roughly the size of your head. "Maybe a massive crossbow would work better."

He basically was a siege engine on his own, so having him use a crossbow the size of a car probably made sense.

It took a lot to catch Mara off-guard, but Skaar certainly caught her attention.

She listened intently, mouth slightly agape.

What species was he?

Skaar was used to mouth agape staring, but it was usually followed by running away. Or, occasionally, with a dinosaur trying to eat him and getting punched in the face for its troubles. He knew what he was, was the point.

Anyway, he gave Mara a nod of acknowledgment.

Mara gave him a quick smile in reply. It wasn't wise to upset a Wookiee, and that was advice that could probably translate....

Yeah, Mara wouldn't like Skaar when he was upset, even if that sentence lacked something.

But whatever. Skaar wasn't a smiler. If you saw him smile, it probably meant that he found something funny. Something that he would then punch. So don't take the figurative stone face poorly, Mara! It was for the best!

"Ada Miller, an' my experience is mostly shotguns and rifles, both from midway shooting games an' deer or rabbit hunting." Ada might be a vegetarian, but the rest of the carnival wasn't, and sometimes that meant poaching around the towns they were in for a little extra food. "I'm kinda hoping to learn how to throw knives, since it could be handy for a new act."

"I'm Alana," Alana said when her turn to speak came. "I've taken a couple weapons classes here, and I did some really basic stuff back home. Basically I just want to get better. There's, uh, a decent chance I'll end up being a soldier after I graduate, so ... I want to know whatever I need to know not to die."

"I'm Blue Sargent, and I don't really have much experience with weapons but it seems like it might be a good idea to learn for, you know, self defense and this island and stuff." She shrugged. "Also my roommate keeps leaving sharp objects around so, safety first!"

"My name is Kaylin Neya. I'm pretty good at self-defense, daggers, staff, a little bit with swords..." She considered. "I'd like to learn more about guns. We don't have them back home."

Before or after class.

As usual, I'm sure y'all will be better than my actual students today. :)
