Lying 101, Monday Second Period
"I know what you're thinking," Lito told his students once he was sure they were all accounted for. "'But Mr. Rodriguez, I thought honesty was a virtue,' and it is. But it's not the only virtue, and you never know when a lie will be useful. A little lie can smooth over a lot of social interactions. It could save your relationship. Or even your life. Or it can be your entire life's work. Take me, I'm an actor. If you reduce my job to its most basic parts, it's lying convincingly, and memorizing scripts.
"So, today, you are going to introduce yourselves. And by the way, if anyone would like to be a teacher's assistant, please see me after class. Now. Please," he said, perching on the edge of his desk and opening his hands to them. "Lie to me."

Introduce Yourselves
Re: Introduce Yourselves
"My name is Elizabeth Willmott, and I arrived here from 1872." Her dress might not be that unfashionable, but hopefully no one would know. "I grew up at sea, on my father's pirate ship, but had to go and stay with my great-aunt outside Manchester to get an education. She was a devout spiritualist and has taught me to converse with the spirit world. Sadly, she passed away a few months ago, and while she still communicates with me daily from beyond the grave, my father sent me here to study."
The expression on her face was rather blank, but the twitches at the corner of her mouth gave away that she was holding back a smile.

He was also speaking in an accent that was pure Correllian, rather than his own which he'd used all last semester.

Face, no.

Yeah, she couldn't come up with a backstory that didn't have a mystery in it. Even if that mystery cast herself as the prime suspect.

She barely knew what the word meant.

He was doing a passing impression of both the real Cobleigh - proper English accent and all - and a certain prissy Englishman by name of Crane he'd known on the island.
Without the insults, it might have even been passable.

"Ah'm Adeline," she said, dipping into her mother's pure Alabama drawl. "My grandparents think ah'm at a convent school, but ah think they may a been misled."
Her eyes slipped towards the boys in tje class. "Though ah must confess, ah'm startin' to think maybe becoming a nun isn't for me."
