Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Picnic-ing in January - still not the best idea ever! But there were tables and chairs set up in the sun, and a nice bonfire going, and plenty of warm food for everyone to encourage socializing for as long as possible.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"More of a monster fighter these days. I don't usually have to look for them because they'll come to me," Skaar explained. "Sorry if that causes any issues here. I'll clean them up quickly."

"They might not actually find you here," Raven said. "This island is on some sort of . . . separate time stream or something. But when you go to the mainland, all bets'll be off. One of my roommates' boyfriends gets stalked by demons, but as far as I know they only came after him here the one time."

Ignore the choking and wheezing noises coming from over here, Raven. Your roommate was just rapidly turning interesting colors, that was fine.

Oh and deciding what to do with your souvenirs from Japan since you clearly weren't getting them.

"Do her other boyfriends have things coming after them, too? If so, I know who I need to make friends with if I want to get some battles in," Skaar considered.

"I don't know," Raven said. "She's a crimefighter, though, so I bet she knows lots of people who could help you out if you get bored."

"I'll keep that in mind. Who's your roommate?" Skaar checked.

"Kathy Li." Raven looked around and pointed her out. "She looks all cute and nice, but she can kick some serious ass when she wants to."

"I get the impression that's true of a lot of people here," Skaar noted. "I met her a little earlier. She didn't seem the type. That's probably the point if she's a costume, though."

"A costume. You mean like she has a secret identity?" Sorry, Skaar, Raven's world hadn't progressed that far into superhero culture yet.

"Yeah. Most of them I've met do. And even if they don't, they still usually wear masks. I couldn't tell you why," Skaar said.

"I think it's part of the draw. Not only do they get to feel like heroes, but they also get to pretend to be someone else for awhile. I can understand that; being someone else can be a lot of fun."

"Hmm. That explains why I didn't get it. I don't do things for fun," Skaar said. It wasn't as much a personal revelation as it might sound. He was literally born in a lake of lava and his childhood progressed from there. Even his bonding time with Banner was largely focused on either killing the Hulk or his brother or whatever the next monster threat was. 'Fun' was something he never really gave a glance to.

"What, never?" Raven tilted her head thoughtfully. "You can have fun, though, right? Even if you don't go looking for it?"

"It's never really come up," Skaar admitted. "I don't exactly have hobbies."

"Other than monster fighting," Raven said. Hey, as far as she was concerned, that counted. "We'll have to find some for you, or you might end up dreadfully bored."

"I could always pick a fight with the guy who fights demons," Skaar suggested. It was probably a very, very dry joke. Probably.

". . . I could potentially sell tickets to that."

NO RAVEN. BAD.

"And then everyone can have fun," Skaar said. Except for the poor, squashed demon fighter.

And Kathy, who would be mad.

"And here you said you didn't do things for fun."

"I'm learning things here already," Skaar noted.
