Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Picnic-ing in January - still not the best idea ever! But there were tables and chairs set up in the sun, and a nice bonfire going, and plenty of warm food for everyone to encourage socializing for as long as possible.

[OCD is up! This is the picnic post for general mingling. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"'Bela, share!" Ada plopped down next to her, making 'gimmie' hands at the flask.

For her part, Ada was actually wearing a hat with her windbreaker, and gloves. Thank you, Sparkle, for employment, because it meant the girl from Arizona and the South wasn't freezing. Just cold.

"Think we can get them to start another fire? Maybe a nice tall one?"

Isabela took one more sip before offering Ada the flask. "Whatever you want, sweet thing."

Her teeth managed not to chatter, but only because she was putting effort into it. "Several fires."

Ada yanked off her hat and settled it on Isabela's head before taking a sip from the flask. She'd manage between her coat and gloves, and she could always run back to the store if it got too bad.

"You ain't used to this weather either, huh?" she asked, stealing a second sip before passing the flask back. "I don't care what Sparkle says, it just ain't natural."

Hats could solve an amazing number of problems. Or at least they let you look stylish while everything went to shit.

"We barely even get frost in Rivain, let alone snow." And Antiva City barely counted as a harsher climate. "At least not without magic being involved."

"The carnival always overwintered at the ranch in Arizona, and it don't get cold there," Ada agreed. "I had to go buy all this that week it snowed so much... I'd never even seen snow before!"

Isabela had dealt with the snow via the much more expedient staying in bed all day. Sadly without company. "Clearly it's all a conspiracy to make us buy more clothes."

Not that she disliked new clothes, she just resented being forced to cover up.

"I got a discount at the shop," Ada offered. "I'm willing to share, if you want to play dress-up during my shift sometime."

"Wouldn't you know, dress-up is one of my favourite games." Most of the others would result in public indecency charges.

"More than Wicked Grace?" Ada teased. "Though I guess you can't cheat at dress-up."

It was Isabela, Ada, of course she could.

"Dress up to start, and that makes the taking off as you lose a hand more interesting?" Ada suggested. "No one ever expects the neon green socks after a ballgown."

"Probably because you can't exactly bend over to put them on in most ballgowns," Isabela said, grinning.
