Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Okay, admittedly, having a picnic at the beginning of January wasn't the best idea the school had ever come up with. Thankfully, the weather was sort of agreeable today - it wasn't too chilly, the sun was out, and there were still pretty pockets of unmelted snow on the lawn.

In the middle of the lawn, a bonfire had been set up for warmth and light--mostly the warmth--and the tables and chairs had been set out to mostly be in the sun. There was a long table with a variety of moddable warm foods, and there was the usual table of nametags and lists to help folks find their siblings and roommates. With everything set up, it was time to welcome the new folks!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Raven smiled a touch nervously. "It runs in the family," she said. "Me, my mother, her mother...."

Which was just more reason that her destiny had to be changed. What kind of evil villainess would try the same thing time after time, knowing it always ended with the same result? Legend or not, it was stupid.

"That must be nice," Raven said a little wistfully, completely missing any hints about what the other Raven felt about her family. "Having someone to show you the ropes and everything."

Yeaaaah, about that. "Well, I never knew my grandmother, and my mother...travels a lot, so I don't talk to her much. But I had classes in magic at my old school."

Just the evil kind of magic.

Raven winced a little. "Okay, so not so much with the family bonding. Got it. There are some magic classes here, but most of them are geared more towards protection from or working with, so the non-magic kids can take them, too."

"Well, it will be nice to take different sorts of classes here," Raven said, brightening. "My classes at my old school were kind of focused, and I'm looking forward to branching out. What kind of classes do you take? It'll be nice if we have some in common."

"Oh, all sorts," Raven said. "This semester I'm taking history and that 'Jack of All Trades' class. I'm TAing that one, actually. I did some correspondence classes in anatomy and things last time, but I figured I'd take it easy for my last semester. My roommate does enough nerding for the both of us."

Kathy would pout if she heard Raven say that. And then nod because, well. It's true.

Raven pulled the course schedule she'd been given out of her purse. "I've got Beginning Gourmet Cooking Techniques; Diplomacy, Relationships, and Tactics; and Friendship is International Adventure," she said.

She was quite pleased with her class list. It was completely different than what she'd been required to take at Ever After High.

"Oh! I think the Friendship one is probably taught by Pinkie Pie! She's fun." Raven tilted her head. "Uh, she's a talking pink pony, by the way. Do they -- have talking ponies where you're from?"

"I've never met one, but probably," Raven said. "We have pigs who talk, three brothers, and goats and mice, too." Which all seemed to come in threes, for some reason.

"Well, I don't think we have any of those. One of the freshman girls has a pig, but I think he's a pet. Pinkie's pretty . . . unique around here."

"Well, I can't wait to meet her, then," Raven said. "It sounds like it will be a fun class." One normally reserved for the princesses. Take that, Headmaster Grimm!
