Creative Inspirations | Monday, period one
//Finals week,// Jono said, hands on his hips and a pleased look on his face. //And we managed to get through a whole semester of classes with no horrible disasters or students getting terribly drunk somewhere around the end of the universe. I'd say that's a cause for celebration, but I'd really much rather get this final over with so I can stop pretending to be a functional adult and half-decent role model for a while.//
Jono told it like it was, okay?
Hannibal was as cool and unflappable as always, but then, he'd been that even faced with students getting terribly drunk around the end of the universe. Well, student. Edward. "So, today as promised, you exhibit your art - whatever form it may take - to the rest of the school. As it's so nice out, we'll be doing this on the lawn." They might as well make use of the warmth while they had it.
//We'll let you poke through whatever pieces you did throughout the semester that you'd like to showcase,// Jono shared. //If you need an instrument of some sort, let us know, and we'll do what we can. You might have to get by without a grand piano, but I have faith that you can manage with whatever we can carry from the music room.//
"We'll also be choosing our favorite pieces of yours, should they not be among your favorites," Hannibal said, smiling. "We've seen many lovely things over the weeks, and would hate for others to miss out."
//Sometimes, something that you think is little more than a throwaway sketch catches a crowd's eye more easily than a masterpiece that you've spent months on,// Jono noted. //You might be surprised by the reception you get for something you created, and then didn't so much as think about afterwards.//
Hannibal rarely was, but then his art often had other reasons for appreciation. Or at least, catching eyes.

Showcase!
Or for admiring it!
Re: Showcase!
He thought.
As he'd been going through them, he found out almost half of them had a faint white sheen, but the images behind them was still largely present. "The fuck," he muttered.
Finally he grabbed the only one he hadn't tried to cover up - a poster of Bob Barbas he'd nabbed during one of his more recent jaunts back home, where he'd doodled an arrow through the guy's head - pinned that to an empty canvas and put it up.
Fucking weird, the other ones. Was gonna have to set fire to that or something.
Re: Showcase!
Particularly when you had the multiverse to shop for them.
Hannibal took his time admiring the paintings, mostly for the raw emotion behind them, then chose a particularly angry red painting and one that suggested the form of wings and set them both beside the poster.
Re: Showcase!
Re: Showcase!
Hannibal let him hide them - after all, most anybody who was going to see them had already - and came over to stand just upwind of him. "You're not fond of those?"
Re: Showcase!
Re: Showcase!
"I would think this would be a good first step toward that," Hannibal said. "Learning what your audience enjoys. Or what they're willing to pay for, depending upon your interests."
Hannibal was in the "art for art's sake" camp, but whatever made you happy.
Re: Showcase!
But it hadn't come up, so that wasn't important.
Dante shot him some amused side-eye. "I mean this class has been great with the hour-long vacations and everything," he said, "But I'm leaving art to the professionals." He made a little finger gun and pointed it at Hannibal.
Re: Showcase!
"You might be surprised at the reception you'd get at an actual art exhibit, but that wasn't the point of this class, either," he said. "Only to show you that inspiration comes in many forms. And to give us an excuse to travel."
Re: Showcase!
And burn those paintings. Seriously.
Re: Showcase!
Come on, Dante - it would be a challenge!
Re: Showcase!
Never mind that he was still kind of pissed off about the painting thing.
Re: Showcase!
With appropriate tastings.
Re: Showcase!
Re: Showcase!
"The object of the class is to teach enough that those who want to cook classy foods can, and those who don't can avoid burning what they do cook."
Re: Showcase!
"Maybe I like burning shit," Dante said. "Sounds like a lot of work for food."

Re: Showcase!
He shrugged. "Whether you feel yourself up to the challenge is of course something only you can say."
