Hunting 101, Thursday
When the students arrived today, they'd find Sam trying to shoo a polar bear out of the room and sighing dramatically. "Oh, how I love December in Fandom," he muttered once the bear was gone, and then he turned to the class and put on a smile. "Hey, so our topic for today is going to be demons. If there's anything we've talked about in class that I hope none of you ever encounter, demons are pretty high on the list."
"The way the story goes is that the first demon was a human soul tortured by Lucifer until it became twisted and unrecognizable. Now, almost all of the souls that end up in hell become demons, and unfortunately, a lot of them find ways to make it out of the pit. A demon soul on its own is pretty harmless, so demons that make it out of hell possess humans, which makes them a lot stronger. Since they're already dead, they're virtually invincible," Sam explained. "Shooting them, hitting them - nothing really fazes them for long, and anything you do to hurt them hurts the person they're possessing as well. There's no good way to keep from getting possessed--my brother and I got tattoos, but that's more because of what my family does for a living." Sam pulled the neck of his shirt down a little to show everyone what he meant.
"Ultimately, the best way to fight demons is to keep them away from you." He grabbed a stack of handouts and gave one to everyone. "These are devil's traps. They all look a little different, but they serve the same purpose - demons walk into them, and they can't get out. Once a demon-possessed person is stuck inside the trap, the only way the demon can get out is if they vacate the person. Usually, that's done through an exorcism, but if you're the persuasive type, you might be able to convince the demon that there's no other option for them but to leave. Today, I want you guys to tap into your artistic sides, and try to recreate one of these traps. Some of them are a lot less intricate than others, so if you're a stick figure person like yours truly, you can still make something that works."
