Competitive Teambuilding, Tuesday, Period 1

[Class #10 - The A-Maze-ing Job]

Eliot and Parker had let Hardison play with the Danger Shop controls again. Which was why the Danger Shop now looked like something out of Minos's worst nightmare. "Hey, y'all," he said, giving the class a wave when they walked in. "Welcome to your next class on teamwork. Today, you're all gonna have to deal with..." He gestured extravagantly to the labyrinth behind them. "...this."

“One person on your team is Nat-- the navigator,” Parker corrected herself. “The others are going to be blindfolded. You have to get your whole team through the maze, which is amazing, and we’re playing hide and seek in there later, guys.”

"After everyone makes it out an' only them folks who want to go back in again," Hardison amended quickly. "Other folks can hang out an' eat snacks if they want. You know, in however much time y'all have after solvin' the labyrinth." They had significantly less than thirteen hours to do so, too. "Now, don't worry, navigators. You ain't gotta be in charge the whole time. At different points in the maze, the position of navigator will switch to the next person. And then that person gets to lead the rest of the team until it's time to change again."

"Your team loses points every time someone blindfolded bumps into somethin' that ain't a teammate," Eliot said. "So navigators are gonna wanna stay on your toes. There are a few surprises in there, too. Try not to injure yourselves."

"'Cause it's been a while since you've had to do that." Chicago, it hadn't gone so far, and it had still been intense all around. "'Cause he's a terrible person but that's a good way to get in lots of trouble. 'Cause... I worry about you."

"No need to worry about me, darlin'." Eliot smiled faintly to show her he appreciated it anyway. "I'm a professional, remember."

Yeah, that was not completely reassuring.

"You should have back-up. Or be in contact with us. Just in case something goes wrong."

"Of course." He was going to need someone to drag Kathy out of the way when the time came, after all. "I've got Shelley and Vance looped in, too. Shelley more'n Vance." Eliot was actually looking amused, now. Part of the reason he'd gotten into this kind of work was that he enjoyed it, after all. "He's less likely to feel like he has to turn me in after."

Parker was not sure this was a 'good' thing... but she wasn't sure it was a bad thing, either. She frowned, trying to think what Hardison would think of this. Maybe she should ask him? Later?

"Yeah. Don't get stuck owing Vance any favors." She made a face. Saving D.C. was fine, but doing it under duress had just been... mean.

"I know how to handle Vance," Eliot promised. "I'll stay on comms the whole time I'm workin' on it."

"Okay." She would feel a lot better about this after Shelley had checked in, and they knew where this guy was. And when Kathy was safe. And Eliot was okay.

That wasn't too complicated, right?

That was pretty much exactly where Eliot was. Leaving off the worrying about himself coming out okay, anyway. So it was just complicated enough.
