Hannibal wasn't even trying to hide his pained look today. He was just looking pained and stoic.

His face was mostly healed, and there were no new bruises - no, his pain was entirely emotional.

Jono, meanwhile, was looking... at least slightly apologetic. Not very. But somewhat.

//There was a special on portals today headed back to August of this year,// he said, by way of explaining the looks on their faces. //And while we have an impressive budget to work with, that trip to Krakatau means we had to balance somehow.// A pause. //And the Portalocity special came with complimentary VIP tickets to a large international event. So, er...//

Really, such an apologetic look.

//This week, we're going to be taking in the finals of the 20th annual Air Guitar World Championships in Oulu, Finland. Word is that competition was tight this year, between Russia's 'Your Daddy' and America's Matt 'Airistotle' Burns, though I'm not completely certain what competition entails, exactly. After all, this is a sort of glorified mime contest.//

This was why Jono wasn't generally the one to buy the portal tickets, folks.

Hannibal really didn't have much to add to that. Apart from a stinkeye at Jono. "We'll be taking in the finals of the competition. Try not to wander too far, please." No matter how tempting. If he had to watch, so did you.

The stunning finale performances by Your Daddy and Airistotle! They're loud! They're ridiculous! Airistotle is wearing an adorable popsicle shirt! Cheer them on! Or... don't. Heckle if you really want. It's standing room only but you get to stand near the front of the crowd and might or might not have to pass one of the competitors back his glasses.

Okay, music: kinda old-fashioned, still good.

Guys running around the stage jumping like idiots: fucking hilarious.

Dante: hanging out by the front, occasionally telling the competitors to go screw themselves if they leaped too close, actually enjoying himself.

Hannibal hadn't realized this was going to be as loud as an actual concert, but luckily Jono had supplied him with earplugs.

They didn't block out nearly enough of the music, some of which was...questionable to say the least. Or any of the sight, which was far more ridiculous.

He was just going to stand there and think disgruntled thoughts at Jono. Loudly.

//You know,// Jono mused, leaning forward for a better look, //if this involved real guitars, I think he would've ripped the neck off at least four times, and probably killed several audience members by now.//

You know. Just an observation. Possibly to try to mitigate those disgruntled thoughts somewhat.

If this involved real guitars, it would be even worse noise, given that he seems to have no concept of how to play one, Hannibal thought back.

//I wouldn't wish this sort of treatment on a guitar that was manufactured by Fisher Price,// Jono agreed, shaking his head in disdain. //Perhaps that's why he's got to imagine he has an instrument. He's not allowed to have the real thing. There's probably a restraining order.//

The guitars filed for it. For fear of their lives.

Couldn't he keep his imaginings in private? Hannibal thought sourly.

The building was booked for this specific thing, after all.

Hannibal gave the people around them a look of mingled distaste and disbelief. How on earth can there be this many people who think this is proper entertainment?

Honestly, he didn't think much of most people, but this was singularly horrid.

//What's the name for that thing where people feel compelled to stand around watching train wrecks? There must be a word for that,// Jono mused. //Anyway, I feel like it probably applies here. In spades.//

There isn't any one name for the phenomenon, though perhaps there should be. Hannibal grimaced at the man's antics. And yes, it seems particularly applicable.

//We could name it,// Jono suggested. //'Yourdaddiosis,' or air-guitar.... something. I don't actually know my way around Latin or Greek well enough to fake this one, I don't think.//
