How To Get By In A Hostile World, Thursday

"Last year, when I ran this class, I stretched out introductions over two classes," Atton said. "At the time, it was a practical decision--" because he was pissed over getting water randomly dumped on his head, "--but I don't see a reason not to continue the tradition. See, there's a difference between what we say, and what we can actually do. One that most of you are probably familiar with, unless one of you has reality warping powers I don't know about."

He gave the class a quick once-over, because actually, that was entirely possible.

"...Okay," he said. "Anyway, we have a flight sim, and we have an on the ground kind of deal. Pick whichever you're more comfortable with, and go."

Well, what Mara would really do was dramatically different from the persona she was playing here in Fandom. In actual life, the pickpocket would have a broken hand and intense feeling of regret for messing with the Emperor's Hand.

In the simulation, Mara let the pickpocket go and employed big eyes and tears to get the 7-11 clerk to give her the food that was going to be thrown out at the end of the shift. Hot dogs that had been rotating for fifteen hours weren't amazing, but it was better than starving.

Mabel probably could stand to learn to pay more attention to what door she went through, really. Not that she wasn't completely confident that she'd be able to handle whatever this thing threw at her.

... Finding herself in the cockpit of a starship was actually, amazingly, outside of her usual realm of expertise.

Whelp, time to just hit random buttons until something happened, then! And if that something happened to be 'hit full reverse and smash backwards through the people who were coming to try to take her into custody, followed by the most slapstick and haphazard possible romp around the space station docking bay until they opened the damn door again just to get her to stop,' well...

That was like almost doing the thing right, right?

It was a wonder this girl was still alive, even in the real world.

Isabela probably wasn't supposed to break the guy's nose before he finished getting his hand out, kick him in the balls, then take back her own money and lift his wallet while he was lying curled up on the ground, but you didn't try to pick a pickpocket's pocket without consequences. Especially when what pockets Isabela's clothes had meant the guy pretty much had to grope her in the process.

At least she didn't pull a knife on him?

Carmilla didn't choose the one that would be more comfortable. She chose the one that looked like it would be more fun. If by "fun," you meant repeatedly getting herself blown up. But, hey, she was enjoying herself.
