The weather was still warm enough to hold class outside, so Cara had told her students to meet her out on the lawn.

"This is Don't Be Stupid," she began. "Hopefully the name is self-explanatory, but in case you need it spelled out, this is a class about learning to use your common sense, though the term is relative on this island. I'll come up with problems, you'll have to come up with solutions."

Spoiler, often these solutions were going to need to involve violence.

"But that's later, t's the first class, which means we get to do introductions, even though I recognise most of you already." She pointed at a random student. "You. Name, year, either what you want out of this class, or a situation where you were the only sensible one."

"Hello," Ringo began. Despite recognizing a number of the other students, she was still going to do a proper introduction. Ringo clasped her hands together in front of her and bowed politely. "My name is Ringo Noyamano. I'm a, um, freshman?" The English term still felt a bit unfamiliar.

"Mostly I think I just need more experience, to be exposed to more situations, and to learn to deal with them well."

"I look forward to sharing class with you all." Another bow.

"I'm Kathy Li, and I'm a senior," she said when her turn rolled around. She sounded a little awkward, but then, Cara always made her feel a little off-balance. "I'm here because I'd like to get more experience in thinking around problems, rather than avoiding them. I mean, if my friends suggested we go do something stupid, I'd either go along to try to mitigate the consequences as best I could, or just skip it all together. Hopefully here, I can figure out other options entirely."

"But I'm still going to try," Kathy said. "And if I'm the one in the middle of doing something dumb, I'd like to learn other options to maybe get out of it than just seeing it through to the idiocy conclusion."

"And what does the Seeker do in Thedas?"

Notice how she was still using the definite article there?

"The Seekers," plural, Cara, "obey the Chantry and police her martial arms, as well as providing oversight," Cassandra said. "We are... investigators, tasked with ensuring the Chantry's wellbeing."

Cara had no idea what a 'Chantry' was, but that sounded sufficiently different to ease any concerns she might have had.

"Why, is it sick?" Which apparently meant it was time to be a smart mouth again.
