Outdoor Adventure Time, Part 2 - Tuesday, Second Period

[Class #1: The Higher Than a Kite Job]

“You all came back!” Well, not all of them. But several of them were familiar. Parker had sent out an email to meet at a portal to the Maryland mountainside for their first class, and to wear light-weight clothes and bring shoes they could run in. “We’re hiking in a bit.” She grinned. “To where we left the equipment!”

"Hope none of you are afraid of heights," Eliot said. "Or, you know, developed a fear of 'em in the last two weeks. Today we're going hang gliding."

He figured that would get most of 'em excited enough for the hike, right there.

“And we have helmets and instructors and stuff, and you’re going to have to be careful,” Parker said at the speed of sound. “Oh. If you haven’t taken one of our classes before, I’m Parker. This is Eliot.”

"We know most of you, but what the hell, it's tradition. Go ahead and introduce yourselves, tell us why you picked the class, that sorta thing. When we get to the top of the trail, I figure none of you'll want to think about more than the instructions and getting off the ground anyway."

“And there will be snacks.” Parker nodded solemnly. “I’ll never break that promise.”

"Hello," Ringo said when it was her turn. "I'm Ringo Noyamano." She offered everyone a polite bow, hands clasped in front of her. "And I am taking this class because I very much enjoyed it during the first half of the summer. And it's a ton more fun than any classes I ever took back home."

Ringo's eyes went wide, and her lips curled upward in a huge smile. It was almost as if she'd been waiting all her life for someone to ask her for suggestions like this.

"Air Trek!" she answered immediately, then looked almost embarrassed, as if the exclamation had snuck through when she wasn't paying attention.
