[Class #1: The Higher Than a Kite Job]

“You all came back!” Well, not all of them. But several of them were familiar. Parker had sent out an email to meet at a portal to the Maryland mountainside for their first class, and to wear light-weight clothes and bring shoes they could run in. “We’re hiking in a bit.” She grinned. “To where we left the equipment!”

"Hope none of you are afraid of heights," Eliot said. "Or, you know, developed a fear of 'em in the last two weeks. Today we're going hang gliding."

He figured that would get most of 'em excited enough for the hike, right there.

“And we have helmets and instructors and stuff, and you’re going to have to be careful,” Parker said at the speed of sound. “Oh. If you haven’t taken one of our classes before, I’m Parker. This is Eliot.”

"We know most of you, but what the hell, it's tradition. Go ahead and introduce yourselves, tell us why you picked the class, that sorta thing. When we get to the top of the trail, I figure none of you'll want to think about more than the instructions and getting off the ground anyway."

“And there will be snacks.” Parker nodded solemnly. “I’ll never break that promise.”

Kathy made sure to adjust her pace to stay with the rest of the class, keeping an eye out for stragglers or anyone who looked like they could use someone to chat with.

"Kathy, Kathy, Kathy!" Incoming Alluka! She wanted a hug! "We're going to get to fly today?!"

Kathy was always up for an Alluka hug! "Sort of, yes!" she said, wrapping her arms around Alluka and holding her tightly. "We're going to have to make sure Bubbles is strapped in tight with you so he doesn't fall, yeah?"

And Alluka was going to cling back because hugs! She loved hugs!

"Uh huh," Alluka said, beaming. "Because if he fell then we'd never find him again."

Which would seriously be a tragedy.

"So he's not allowed to fall!"

She forbid it!

"Well right before you jump, we'll fasten him extra, just in case, okay?" Kathy said. "Just to make sure that doesn't happen. And then Bubbles can go back and tell all the other animals what a great day he had, right?"

She giggled.

"The other toys will be soooo jealous," she shared. "I'll have to bring one of them along next week, or there will be an argument."

That would be entirely acted out and voiced by Alluka herself, though her panda would help with that, but... shhh, details.

You know, Kathy was willing to just take the argument on faith.

"If you're going to bring your animals with you every time, maybe we should look into getting a special bag or something for them to ride along in? For times like today when you need both hands, or to keep them clean and dry if we're gonna be getting wet or messy that day."
