Fun with Magic | Friday, First period

Class was inside again today, and the Danger Shop was...a big, white room. Bob was beaming at them.

Literally. He raised his hands, and the air around them sparkled, waves of colour expanding out. "This week - art!" he explained. He made a tossing motion at the wall, and a rainbow appeared and stuck there. "Touch whichever colour you like, then draw with it. Paint with it. Whatever you like. Scrub your hand through it to erase." He demonstrated.

"Enjoy!"

So help her, Elsa was blushing, now.

"Oh... well... if you'd like to pick a place to paint, then..." She gestured with one hand toward the rest of the empty space on the wall. "I'll let you choose the best spot, if you like?"

Best plan!

Alluka beamed and obediently trotted along the wall until she found a place that seemed like the best.

(It was just the same as all the rest, really, but shhh.)

"This is the perfect spot!" she declared.

Elsa didn't see much different about it, really, but she was perfectly willing to roll with it!

"Oh, this spot is lovely. I bet we can make it much lovelier with those pink flowers we're going to paint."

She made a reach for a handful of pink.

And Alluka did too, giggling.

"I've never painted on the walls before today," she shared.

"You know... neither have I?" Elsa smiled and set to work painting something that looked a little bit like a slightly pointy daisy. She was reigning it in somewhat, here, so that the petals didn't branch out further. "This is far more fun than I thought it might be, though. I might have to do this again sometime."

Alluka watched the way Elsa was painting avidly, before remembering that she was supposed to be painting too.

Her flower looked, well. It was a child's attempt at a flower, it really was. The petals were lopsided and uneven, but Alluka was having fun, which was the most important thing.

"Can I come too, if you try it again?" she asked hopefully.

"I don't think I would dream of trying it again without you," Elsa decided. "Who else is going to pick the best colors for our flowers, after all?"

Elsa, after all, was excellent at arranging flowers, but maybe only excelled at painting snow.

"I'd do my best," Alluka said, pleased and delighted at Elsa's words. "But, but maybe there's other people who'd be better at it than me?"

"Well, if you can think of any, they're welcome to come and paint as well," Elsa replied. "But you're certainly the best I know."

Spoiler: Elsa didn't know many people.

That was okay, Elsa! Alluka didn't know many people either.

"Maybe we can both get better?" she said, smiling a little more.

"I'm certain we will, if we spend enough time working at it," Elsa decided. "Do you suppose I should buy some paint and paper, in the meantime?"

She was actually sort of tempted, now.

"It'd mean we could have fun at any point," Alluka said happily. "But it wouldn't be the same as the walls either, so it's up to you."

"I think being able to paint whenever we wanted would be the most fun of all," Elsa decided. "Maybe I'll even go out tomorrow to get some painting supplies. And then we can surprise one another with art, too."

"I'll have to get better if we do that," Alluka said, smiling. "Because, because it wouldn't be fair if you never got something pretty from me."

Awwww, Alluka! Aww!

"Well, then it's already perfectly fair," Elsa decided. "Because so long as you're painting what you want to paint, it's going to be beautiful."

That wasn't strictly how art worked, really, but Elsa was nothing if not encouraging. When she wasn't hiding or panicking.

Alluka giggled.

"I'll try," she promised, even though Elsa's picture had been way prettier than anything she'd have been able to come up with. "And, and we can only get better, right?"

"That's right," Elsa agreed. "Practice makes perfect."

It was cliche, maybe, but true enough.

"And it's something that stands to be fun to learn, too. I'm going to consider that a win."

"Consider that a win," Alluka repeated, trying out the phrase. She'd never heard that before. She laughed, delighted. "I like that!"

Elsa couldn't help but laugh as well. Alluka's delight was contagious.

"Well, then let's spend a lot of time winning, shall we?"

Or painting flowers. Whichever.

If her hands weren't covered in paint, she would be clapping them.

"That sounds like the best!" Alluka decided. "Let's do that!"

And hopefully Elsa would be still happy with the idea when she had a wall of terrible art drawn by Alluka and given to Elsa as presents.
