International Cuisine | Monday, first period

"We're heading back to Europe this week," Hannibal told the students when they'd gathered at Portalocity. "More specifically, to Italy. There are a number of different regional cuisines, and today we will be experiencing Tuscan. Most of the staff will speak English, as this is a popular place with both locals and tourists."

He waved them through the portal, and they found themselves between a traditionally plastered building and a red-and-white striped one with carved animal heads on it. "The downstairs of that one," Hannibal explained, "is a butcher's shop. The upstairs is a burger restaurant. Both are owned and run by the same man, who also is responsible for the one across the street, which is where we will be eating. I should warn you that while there are vegetable dishes, the name of the restaurant translates to 'only meat'. Meat is a staple dish in Tuscany."

A loud and enthusiastic voice greeted Hannibal in Italian, and Hannibal answered back smiling (if somewhat more quietly). The butcher led them in to a large round table and sat them, still smiling, before heading back across the street.
