Class today was to meet in the Danger Shop; when they got there, they'd find themselves in a bright little gazebo on a sunny day, though there was an odd fog concealing the landscape

"Welcome!" Bob grinned. "We could probably have done this outside, but...well, the safety protocols seemed like a good idea." And then he'd gotten a bit creative.

"Today, you've got a different sort of equipment." Which Anders had probably noticed was suspiciously light as he carried the box from Portalocity. Bob waved at the box, inside of which were brightly coloured life-vests. "Everybody put one on, and then your task for the day is to race to the other gazebo exactly like this one on the far side of the room. Doctor Lecter kindly ~~was nagged into~~ donated chocolates for you all to share once you arrive. Winner gets the best choices," he pointed out.

"Winner won't necessarily be the fastest, though" he said, grinning. "You've also got to find your way there." He gestured and the fog lifted, to show a hedge wall several stories high. "The hedges form a maze. You'll have to think to get through it. Oh," he added as if in afterthought, "and it's three-dimensional. So you'll want to work on your flying."

He smiled at them all. "Any questions?"

So Dipper was taking his usual analytical approach and was going to diagram each turn he took so he could work out a virtual map of the maze.

It wasn't going well.

And as promised, Bob was walking through a hedge wall next to him. "What happens if you drop your pencil?"

"I have backups," Dipper said holding open his vest and showing a pack of pencils in the rather accommodating inner pocket. "I've learned through lots of adventuring to always make sure you have plenty supplies at hand just in case."

It didn't work out to well when he went fishing with Mabel and Grunkle Stan. But that's another story.

Bob nodded. "It's good to be prepared." He eyed Dipper's notebook. "How are you planning to diagram in three dimensions on a two-dimensional surface?"

"I'm trying to do a level on every page," Dipper said holding up his journal. "So far it's not working very well."

"Do you enjoy that sort of thing?" Bob asked, indicating the notebook.
