Class today was to meet in the Danger Shop; when they got there, they'd find themselves in a bright little gazebo on a sunny day, though there was an odd fog concealing the landscape

"Welcome!" Bob grinned. "We could probably have done this outside, but...well, the safety protocols seemed like a good idea." And then he'd gotten a bit creative.

"Today, you've got a different sort of equipment." Which Anders had probably noticed was suspiciously light as he carried the box from Portalocity. Bob waved at the box, inside of which were brightly coloured life-vests. "Everybody put one on, and then your task for the day is to race to the other gazebo exactly like this one on the far side of the room. Doctor Lecter kindly ~~was nagged into~~ donated chocolates for you all to share once you arrive. Winner gets the best choices," he pointed out.

"Winner won't necessarily be the fastest, though" he said, grinning. "You've also got to find your way there." He gestured and the fog lifted, to show a hedge wall several stories high. "The hedges form a maze. You'll have to think to get through it. Oh," he added as if in afterthought, "and it's three-dimensional. So you'll want to work on your flying."

He smiled at them all. "Any questions?"

The vests are various neon colours, and very light. And when you put them on, you will be, too. Congratulations, you can fly! Try not to break anything.

Lottie picked up a bright neon green vest and put it on. And promptly started doing little somersaults in the air. She pulled out her phone to get a selfie and promptly dropped it, only to end up swimming awkwardly through the air downwards to try and get it back.

Still. FLYING!

"You may want to keep a better hold on your things," Bob called out - a reminder to everyone as much as to Lottie. "I'm not sure how much this room will protect them from a fall."

Neon pink! NEON PINK!

Alluka beelined for a pink one and slipped it on. Then she bounced into the air and, as she did a spin, just started giggling.

This was the best!

Anders put on a neon blue vest, and then followed Lotie's lead and did little somersaults. he couldn't hold back his laughs of delight as he floated away.

"Is this something your mages learn to do?" Bob asked.

"No, we can't fly," Anders said, sounding regretful. "They say a few mages can shape-shift into birds and such and fly that way, but I've never seen it."

And some were too freaking awesome for birds and became dragons.

"Interesting. Shapeshifting is much less common in my world, apart from other species. Weres and such," he explained. "Flying seems easier to me than that. Then again, I never really tried either myself."

Flying now was effortless, but it had a lot to do with the lack of body.

Please. Everyone knows the Witch of the Wilds is just a myth.

"Flying seems like it should be easier, doesn't it?" Anders agreed, bobbing up and down a bit as he spoke. "Just jump high and don't fall."

"You might want to learn to steer," Bob said, amused. "But that's essentially it."

Anders waved it off. "That's a detail," he said. "I'd learn as I go. Besides, nobody teaches babies to steer, and most of us walk just fine."

"Without quite so far to fall, yes." Not that they'd come to any harm in here, but the point remained.

"True, but I'm taller," Anders suggested. "So proportionately it's ...not really the same at all, is it? But it still shouldn't be too hard."

"Not in here." Bob shrugged. "You probably still want to be a little careful."

"I know," Anders said, standing up a bit straighter. "I was trying to joke. Not very successfully, looks like."

It helped when he was actually funny.

"Mm, no," Bob agreed. "But your steering is improving."

Dipper grabbed a neon blue color and did his best to figure out how it worked.

He spent a good deal of the time hanging upside down before he got the hang of it.

"The other end generally goes up," Bob said helpfully.

"Working on it!" Dipper said trying to spin upright. "I'll get it... eventually."

Bob watched him for a moment, then tried actual help. "Shift your weight just a little; you're trying too hard. Relax and try smaller movements."
