Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2015, Early Saturday Evening [Part 1]

Right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, the ceremony for graduation was ready to go. The lawn of the school had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths for everyone to get to the seating area. There were blue and gold streamers flapping peacefully in the breeze, and of course, the makeshift paths were covered in glitter.

Look, if the supply wasn't going down, Zoe was just going to embrace the glitter madness for the sake of her own personal sanity.

Congratulations, Class of 2015! You made it to graduation day! Now you just had to get through the ceremony. At least nothing looked oddly out of place this year?

At the appropriate moment, there was Pomp and Circumstance. It was time for the soon-to-be-graduates to make the last adjustments to their blue and gold robes, and get to walking to their seats.

It was kind of weird to be up here and even weirder to have his mother out in the audience. Most of his attention was on her well being while he stood silently, waiting to walk.

"Your mom looks good," Isabelle told him quietly from beside him. "She looks well."

Meanwhile her dad was sitting a little stiffly in the audience. She had so far not felt inclined to point him out for anyone.

"Mm. I hope that holds," he told her, keeping his eyes on the audience. "Faster I can get off this stupid stage, the better I'll feel."

"It'll be over soon." And she was looking forward to that. More than she was comfortable admitting. "This senior class isn't even very big."

"Suppose so." He took a breath and rubbed his face before looking over at her. "Congratulations on graduating."

Isabelle leaned over to give him a very quick kiss. It was what came naturally when she felt like being reassuring. Or felt like needing reassurance. "You too, baby. Congratulations."

"Thank you," he returned, picking up one hand and giving her knuckles a kiss. "Have fun crossing the stage and getting your diploma. Guess I'll see you on the other side?"

"Oh, you better." She gave his fingers a squeeze. "Because if you're not spending the night with your mom ––" Because considering his mother's health, she knew that was a possibility. "–– you're spending it with me."

"I'll see how she is after all this and let you know," he told her. "But, let's go ahead and get this over with so I can sit down. I hate being on stage."

Isabelle gave his hand another squeeze.

And then she let go of it, and turned to brace herself for the trek across the stage.

Karina looked decidedly unenthused as she fiddled with her sleeves. There was no point in scanning the crowd for people she knew--she hadn't invited anyone at all--and she was more concerned with what was going to happen today.

The graduating was okay, since it meant she could leave, but there hadn't been a peaceful graduation in the years she'd been here.

She was expecting the worst. Karina didn't know what she was going to do about anything, but she was expecting something.

Emma was finding this kind of surreal, sticking around one place long enough to graduate just wasn't how her life worked.

This was so weird. And, like, Minako didn't have any guests, but still.

She adjusted her hairbow for the zillionth time and bounced on her toes, waiting.

Oh, jeeze. Sparkle didn't have any guests here from back home, himself. Hell, the only person he figured might have shown up was Lewis, and Lewis had bigger, more important things to do.

Hey, that was life.

What was surreal about all of this, though? That was the Pomp and Circumstance and the gown and the freaking mortarboards, because, you know, how the hell was this actually happening, anyway?

"God, I look so stupid right now," he muttered, under his breath.

"Not any more than the rest of us," Joker muttered back. "Just wave and smile and feel proud. ...And don't walk too fast."

"Trust me, I'm in no hurry to get up there," Sparkle promised. "After the procession, they have me giving a fucking speech."

So he'd be more than happy to keep pace with you, Joker. Like, so much.

Barry was barely paying attention to anything around him. He was too engrossed in the experiment back in the warehouse that he was monitoring on his phone. He managed not to run into anyone or anything during the procession.

Sia had started the day a little sad that she didn't have any visitors, but then she'd gotten a call from her Master to wish her well and found out that there was plenty of fighting going on, and there went any inkling of self-pity. Instead, she was weirdly ready to get this over with, and then she was that much closer to getting back there.

So, you know, hopefully she wasn't walking too fast.
