Today email notifications/notes had been sent to the students informing them to meet Jones near the preserve.

"A change of plans for today," Jones said ignoring any kind modicum of social interaction that might be necessary. "As Cassandra's theme of study involves magic, I thought we would take a look at the negative effect etheric use can have on the environment. If you wish to bring weaponry, you may. I do not expect much trouble but it does help to be prepared."

Ooo! Walking in an eerie forest! Jones knows how to bring the fun.

She really doesn't.

Into the forest!

The forest is dying. Leaves have gone dead. Branches tend to fall with a long creak before hitting the ground.

"Not long ago the forest was showing signs of spring and it's usual regeneration," Jones said as they reached a clearing. "You will notice it is in the process of dying off instead. The usual sounds of wildlife in the forest are also absent with exception of the occasional-"

Suddenly there was a snarl and a teal deer appeared from the brush! It let out a guttural sound before launching at Jones and attacking her arm!

Jones didn't seem to care that much about the attack. In fact she was lifting her arm into the air as the rabid teal deer continued to gnaw on it.

"-teal deer. Thoughts?"

Hey, they were walking through the preserve. Sure, Sparkle could handle that. Maybe he'd be a little bit more concerned about the frothing deer attack, but honestly, he couldn't be all that bothered to. He wanted to go back to his room, call Melanie again. She said she might know somebody who would be a great match for a home for him, and he wanted so badly to get more information.

He reached for his phone.

And then, not wanting to pull out the business card in front of anybody, he made a face and just sort of took a picture of the crazy deer that was hanging from Jones' arm. He'd forward that to Melanie later. She could check out just how messed up this stupid place was for herself.
