US Government (Wednesday, March 1, 4th period)

"Greeeetings!" Sam the Eagle was perched at the front of the class. He was trying to look all official and proper, but ended up looking quite constipated. "Boys and girls, it is I - Sam the American Eagle. I would just like to say a few words about reading the federal budget today. You see, budgeting is the American way! All good Americans budget. And today, fine, upstanding students attending an American school, I - Sam the American Eagle - will teach you a few things about reading the budget made by the American government.

First of all - do not read it. The federal budget is none of your concern, children. You should let the American government handle the hows and whys of money spending and be glad that money is being spent on you at all. Many significant and intellectual people come together to make the budget for the American people. They are much smarter than you. They know what they are doing. Trust in your government! Read only what you need to read and complain about not getting enough money for your pet project. But know that very smart people were arguing behind doors, probably nude, to get the job done. And a magnificent job it is indeed.

This is Sam the American Eagle telling you to love the American government, trust that it loves you and do not forget to study for your midterm on Friday."

Bumps, bruises, dislocations, concussions, Mac's got a broken leg...

It could have been so much worse, Liz.

I know. But you've got to look on the bright side because it wasn't worse, okay?

And don't blame yourself.

Impossible. She's me, right? Without boundaries and limits, but still me. Plus, I was the one who pushed her over the edge.

She's based on you. No two people in the universe are identical. You have you boundaries and limits, and you know them and stick to them. And if you hadn't pushed her, someone else would have.

But I should have known better. It's Lee's kidnapping all over again.

You can't be expected to know everything. You can't be expected to save everyone.

Oh? Can't I? Sam was still a little bitter, and surprisingly angry with Jack O'Neill, who had always expected her to know everything and save everyone. Sometimes twice in the same day.

No Elizabeth scrawled the word emphatically.

I wish that was really true.

It is. It can be. You just have to let it. Stop trying to take the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Sam smiled sadly at Liz, but didn't pass a note back.

Elizabeth kept glancing across at Sam for the rest of the lesson, planning on talking with her soon when RL allows it omg

Sam noticed that Liz was looking a little more tired than usual, and resolved to find out what was going on as soon as humanly possible.
