Student Council [Friday, Lunchtime]

Today, it seemed, was a hot soup and sandwich day as everything was set out for the Student Council meeting. There were a variety of soups and sandwiches on the table, along with drinks and cookies because, well, healthy soup balanced out cookies, right? Right.

"Good afternoon, and thank you all for coming. I hope you've managed to readjust to non-cruise life without too much trouble," Zoe said with a smile. "We've had a busy start to the year, so you should all pat yourselves on the back for a job very well done. We have a few quiet weeks ahead of us, so we can relax, or plan something new. Does anyone have any ideas?"

[We're going OCD-free today! *squishes you all*]

"Well, yeah, there's lots, but it's, like, Spring and I'm coming out of hibernation or something," Minako said, completely unashamed of her giant piles of food. "And I'm totally a growing girl and stuff. Gotta eat to stay active!"

Mara grinned back. "It's Spring? Really? This still looks like winter on my planet."

Minako wrinkled her nose. "It's supposed to be spring," she amended. "It's, like, so almost mid-March. There should be no snow and flowers starting to grow."

"Sounds nice," Mara said, laughing. "I grew up in a planet-wide city, so the only flowers I've ever really seen growing were in very cultivated parks."

"A planet-wide city?" Minako echoed, looking confused. "Is it, like, a small planet? Or do you have districts that are like their own cities?"

She was from Japan - Minako was familiar with the concept of futuristic dystopian cities that were the center of the post-apocalyptic world, it was a popular manga trope, after all. But a planet-wide city was a bit baffling to comprehend.

"Districts that are basically their own countries," Mara said, pulling up a holo of Imperial Center. "The surface of the planet hasn't been seen in centuries."

"So coooooooooool," Minako breathed, peering at the holo. "Not that no one's seen the surface, though. What if, like, there's an earthquake? Or a foundation starts crumbling? Do buildings just, like, drop out of the sky with no warning?"

Mara nodded. "It happens. Not in the wealthier districts, of course, but hawkbats live in the lower levels and feed off of ferrocrete."

"That's messed-up," Minako said bluntly. "Why build so tall if you're going to ignore the infrastructure? Aren't you afraid of the whole city collapsing?"

"Not really," Mara said. "There are droids and people assigned to watch for hawk-bats. They're considered a delicacy on the lower levels..."
