Library, Sunday
Face had set up another helpful display of books, this time focusing on guides on recognising the various different kinds of sea-life.
Because, Face, basically. He thought he was clever at least.

Re: Talk to Face
She was entirely here to tell him this. Not to talk to Face. Because that would be ridiculous.
Re: Talk to Face
"Hello, Cassandra. How's it useless?" Maybe adding books likes Summon Bigger Fish, A Guide to Naboo's Marine Species and that one written entirely in rhyme to the display ha d been a mistake.
Re: Talk to Face
"There is nothing of use in the books," Cassandra specified. "None of these address the notion of sea-life that attacks on dry land."
Well, it was kind of a specific niche, Cassandra.
Re: Talk to Face
"Well, that's the thing," he said. "Generally sea-life doesn't leave the sea, hence the name."
Re: Talk to Face
Now that Cass's mun could respond to pings without having a small chicken enthusiastically punching the 6 and 9 keys on the numpad...Cassandra grunted."Then why put up the display?" she said, waving the book around. "They do not contribute anything."
Re: Talk to Face
But was this chicken evil manifest?"Not entirely true," Face told her. "Thanks to them, next time you'll know exactly what kind of sea-life is acting completely against its nature."
And knowing was half the battle.
Re: Talk to Face
Some mornings...Cassandra shot him a very dry look. "I see," she said.
(She also slapped the YA book down on the counter, hoping that somehow her mild scorn would keep him from commenting.)
Re: Talk to Face
"Oh, don't tell me this one was useless as well?" he asked in a saddened tone.
Re: Talk to Face
Cassandra fiddled with her fingers - a subconscious nervous gesture. "...No, it was quite useful," she said, "...in that it lived up to the use I had for it."
Re: Talk to Face
You think a little thing like shame would've kept him from reading the one she'd brought back before this?
Re: Talk to Face
"They were so close!" she cried. "And then for him to be torn away again - it is so unfair!"
And then she went red. Sigh.
Re: Talk to Face
By which he meant he'd already checked for it.

Re: Talk to Face
Partly because she needed the book. Partly so she could stop blushing in front of Face. "I see," she called.
Re: Talk to Face
"That's good," he called back.
Re: Talk to Face
But she wanted to talk about the book.

Re: Talk to Face
Look, in real life, she just bludgeoned her problems into nonexistence and didn't spend too much time lingering on it, so this was not really her area.
Re: Talk to Face
Face nodded. "The entire point propaganda is blatant emotional manipulation," he explained. "I died so many tragic deaths, usually after any number of completely absurd plot twists, all for the purpose of plucking the Imperial citizen's heartstrings."
Re: Talk to Face
"What sort of plot twists?" Cassandra asked, frowning.
Re: Talk to Face
"They weren't exactly subtle," he said. "Usually the completely reasonable character who had any kind of issues with Imperial policy turned out to be a murderous Rebel terrorist who also liked kicking small defenceless animals."
