BWI Portalocity Lounge | Saturday Morning

One of the very few perks of having a meteorologist for a mother was that Amy could almost always avoid weather-related flight delays by relying on her mom for information. That was usually very convenient, but today it meant that due to anticipated late morning storms in northern Texas, Amy had been forced to fly in at ass o'clock in the morning so that she wouldn't run the risk of missing the bus to school. So it looked like she was the first person to reach the Fandom High banner in the airport lounge, and while Amy had always had hopes of one day winning a race, this wasn't quite what she had had in mind.

Armed with an overstuffed duffel bag and her favorite pair of sweatpants (they were decorated with little cartoon strips of bacon!), Amy stifled a heavy yawn and parked herself in a distant corner of the lounge where she could wait for more people to show up.

"Do not patronize me," Cassandra spat. How could she have shown even a moment of weakness on such unfamiliar territory? "I had uncovered the lair of an apostate mage. It was said to be abandoned. It was not. I interrupted the apostate's spell, and then I was here. If you can explain, you will do so now."

//You really don't seem to be in any position to make demands,// Jono noted, idly. //You've ended up transported somehow into the waiting area, where a bunch of students-to-be are readying themselves to head off to school. Odds are, whatever you interrupted backfired and shot you across a few realities, given the armour. Either that, or you're a big deal in LARP groups. Whatever the case is, you've most likely got yourself to thank for it, because you can be bloody sure nobody here thought it'd be a good time to have that thing waved in their faces today.//

He couldn't do this and not be an ass.

//Now, as far as I see it, you can stand there for as long as you please and keep barking like a kicked dog and maybe you'll last a little while before the police come and arrest you for waving a weapon around. Or you can get on the bloody bus, and you can come with me to the island we're going to, because you stand a much better chance at getting home from there than you've got from here, unless you've done business with Portalocity before. And if that's the case, my condolences.//

"I am a Seeker of Truth, I am in every position to make demands," Cassandra said, her feet planting ever more firmly on the ground. (No, she wasn't, and she was only a Seeker in training, but by Andraste's grace, she would not be cowed.)

"You say there are answers on this island, then I will go," she added, "But if you are lying, I will hold you responsible."

She wasn't yet sure how to tackle a human who could speak like that - perhaps there was more strangeness about him - but she did, at least, have a pointy thing.

//For the love of...// Jono reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose. //Look, Sunbeam, whatever you are, as a General of Glacia's army and a Fandom High professor, I probably outrank you. Put the sword away if you want to get on my-// Skywalker's, //-bus, and we'll take it from there. I won't feel terribly guilty about leaving your arse behind if you won't. We've got policies about that sort of thing.//

Cassandra scowled at him, and she grunted in disgust. "You do not outrank me," she said flatly. "I have not heard of your kingdom. I consider it unlikely that we are part of the same chain of command."

Cass, just... just.

She sheathed her sword. "I do this under a banner of momentary truce, nothing more."

//Good. It's not terribly honourable to wave a sword around and make demands of an unarmed man, anyway. That's a pastime generally reserved for cowards and bullies. I'll overlook it, but the moment I catch you doing it to my students, I will damn well take it from you, and don't think I can't.// He pointed at the bus. //Up the stairs, take a seat. The one in the very front is mine, since I'm driving this thing. Anything else is fair game.//

Cassandra considered telling this man that should he try to go for her weapon, it was doubtful he would survive it. He did not wear armor and his skull, at least, was unprotected.

But she did not. She had spoken her truce and that was that. Killing him would come later, if it was necessary.

Considering she was without other allies for the time being, it would be sensible to hope it would not be so.

She did, however, huff her complete and utter disgust out into the air outside the buss before boarding it and making her way to the back, from where she could have the best overview of its contents.

Jono, meanwhile, just crossed his arms over his chest and watched her board the bus.

This group was going to be a fun one this year, wasn't it?

Ah, Fandom. Keep attracting the charming ones.
