How to be a hired gun/merc - Monday, Period 3

Today when the students entered the Danger Shop they would find it transformed into the cargo bay of a Firefly class transport space ship. Inside said cargo bay was a bunch of makeshift gym equipment.

Jayne was actually in the process of doing bench presses when the students came in.

"Sometimes being a hired gun means you spend lots of time doing nothing," Jayne grunted as he continued to exercise. "When that happens you need to occupy your time. One of those things should be staying in shape. You get out of shape? Chances are you won't move fast enough the next time someone shoots at you."

He put the weights on it's stand and sat up.

"So go run laps. Lift weights. Whatever."

Yeah, Jayne just decided to use his class time today to work out. Sorry kids.

"Who cares what direction I'm running in, here, so long as I'm running? I mean, we can't all run marathons backwards, here," Sparkle replied, starting to make faces as his side informed him that it was very much not appreciating these shenanigans. "Shit, I need to quit smoking."

And in response to that, Sparkle was going to just stick his tongue out at her.

A dangerous proposition while running, really.

"Fat lot of good that does around here. Shit's still going to try to kill you on the island, doesn't matter if you're a sinner or a saint, girly."

"Then it probably won't matter if you can run, either," Mara said.

"Hasn't hurt much in the past," Sparkle replied, now holding his sides as he ran. He wasn't... going... to lose, dammit! "You can do a lot more living if you're faster than the one chasing you. And, if that doesn't work, if you're faster than the other guy running away."

So he was pretty functionally dead right now, apparently.
