If you'd told Thor a few years ago that he'd be living on Midgard and teaching children in a school, he would have laughed long and hard at you. But the truth was, like many things he'd discovered since his brief exile from Asgard, he'd found he truly enjoyed it. So he was excited for the beginning of another semester.

"Greetings, all, and welcome to Heroic Tales," he began, once everyone seemed settled. "If you are a fan of stories involving heroes and adventure, well. You are in the right place. If you're not a fan- I apologise for whatever mishap landed you in my class, but I hope you can still find some enjoyment from it! This semester, we're going to look at adventure tales from all over this world, and not just books- there will be some films and perhaps even a live show or two! But today, of course, is our first day together, and although I recognise many of your faces, we should still perform introductions so that we all know each other. So, I shall ask your name, your class, and a hero you hold in high regard- be they real or fictional. To start, I am Thor Odinson, your teacher, and a hero I regard highly is my dear friend, the Lady Sif, one of the most fearsome warriors I've ever had the pleasure to fight alongside." He pointed to someone at random. "Now, it is your turn."

After they'd finished, he spoke again. "Additionally, I am seeking one or two students for the position of Teaching Assistant. This involves being available to answer questions should your fellow students need assistance, or filling in for me should I be called away and unable to teach a class. If you're interested, please speak to me."

Not that there's a terribly large amount of it, today.

Name, year, hero you hold in high regard.

"Flick and I am finally a senior," he said, unable not to sound pleased by that. "And a hero I hold in high regard? Uh. My brother."

"Welcome, Flick!" Thor beamed at him, although the smile didn't quite reach his eyes as Flick mentioned having a brother, his own relationship with Loki being as complicated as it was.

"I'm Raven Darkholme," she said. "I'm a junior, and . . ." She trailed off thoughtfully. "Everyone here, really. Those of us who've been around for a little while have fought and won against all kinds of things. I'd say that's pretty heroic."

"Good to see you again, Raven, and that is an excellent point! This island has thrown many trials at all of us, and even those who may not have fought battles in the traditional sense have still survived much, and deserve to be recognised!"

"I'm Rapunzel," she greeted enthusiastically. "And I'm a junior, and...wow, I have lots of heroes! I mean, as far as real people, I guess I don't have a lot. But I love stories about heroes! Like, especially lady-heroes, because I don't think there are a lot of those back home." At least, that was what Mother always said. "So your Lady Sif sounds pretty awesome, Mr. Odinson!"

Way to basically not answer the question but still talk so much, Rapunzel.

"She is indeed, as you say, 'awesome'," Thor agreed, and if he hadn't already been planning to include some 'lady-heroes' in the semester, well. He was now. "I hope during our time together you can find some new inspiring tales to enjoy."

"I'm Four, I'm a junior, and --" he frowned, thoughtful. "I don't really have a hero."

"No heroes?" Thor echoed. "There are none whose work you admire or wish to emulate?"

Four shook his head. "Thinking that someone was better or worse than you was...frowned upon in my upbringing. Our leaders are chosen precisely because they don't want to be looked at as being better than the rest of us."

And the one who led them was Four's father and no. No to thinking of him as anything less than an ass.

"Cosette -- Fauchelevent, and I'm in my second year now, aren't I?" Yes, she sounded surprised by this. "I don't know if I could pick a favorite hero from a story. I've so many yet to read, and I'm fond of so many of the ones I've already read that it doesn't seem fair to choose. But if I've got to choose one, then I shall have to say it's my father."

Not that she'd say so out loud, but the more she pieced together about her life before him, the more this choice seemed thoroughly justified.

"Johnny Storm, I'm a junior, and the hero I hold in the highest regard is myself," Johnny said. "But if you twisted my arm until I said someone else, I'd have to pick my buddy, Spider-Man. He's one of the best."

"I'm Daphne Blake and I'm a sophomore." She thought about the heroes she knew or had come into contact with. "Hero in high regard? My friend, Scooby. He gets scared a lot, but when things are messed up, he runs right into things to help save the day."

"I'm Alex Mack," Alex said, "I'm a Freshman and I guess I'd consider my sister a hero,"

"I remain Vider Bearskin," Vider said respectfully to the god. "I am now a junior, and I hold Luta Bearsdottir, who was the last female berserker," you know, before her, "in high regard."

If you want that TA position or just feel like chatting!

After class, Daphne approached the teacher. "I'd like to help out with being a TA."

Should be somewhat around this morning, but then this evening I'm off for beer and cake soooo.
