Grissom comes in to his office a little later than usual, but he doesn't seem to be overly concerned with his tardiness.

His door is open, because the puppy is contained to her own little play area, and also he's in the best. mood. ever. So he's grinning, slightly but still, and 'rocking out' to King Crimson by occasionally tapping his fingers on his desk while he works on the upcoming Sociology midterms.

And no, he can't explain why you stick to the ceiling or smell like Nyquil, but he'll certainly come up with some theories for you.

"Well that's kind of the problem," Mac said.

From behind Mac, Grissom might see something swishing.

Grissom pushes his chair back and stands.

"Wow," he says quietly. "When did... that, happen?"

"Yesterday morning. I woke up with well.... that." Mac said his new tail swishing around. "I've been trying to remember what happened that might of caused this."

"That's a good start," Grissom muses, leaning slightly to get a look at the Mac's tail omg.

"I can't imagine it's something as pedestrian as an allergy, I'm afraid. It has a full range of movement, I assume that it's attached a normal limb would be? Do you know if it it engaged as part of your circulatory system? Basically, cut it and it bleeds?"

"Oh it's definitely attached like a normal limb," Mac says with a frown. "I even have some control over it."

Mac demonstrates by having the tail wrap around the chair and picking it up.

"I haven't tried cutting it to see if it bleeds. Part of me really doesn't want that to happen."

"Hmmmm." Grissom listens intently.

"You have some control over it, but does it have any control over you? I must say, as disturbing as it is, my first thought was an externally anchored parasite, capable of integrating itself with your integumentary system. And if you can control it with your mind, a logical conclusion it has established a pathway to your brain and nervous system which could, in theory, work both ways."

"No. I seem to have complete control of it," Mac said scratching his head... with his tail. "I haven't felt any weird urges to do anything that I wouldn't do."

"Good," Grissom replies honestly, because the concept of extracting a weasel-esque parasite from Mac that had taken over his brain sounded... well, difficult.

"What kind of strange experiences have you had in Fandom? Any gypsy curses, jilted witch ex-lovers, sexual relations with... non-humans?"

"Well, I dated a gypsy witch but she broke it off with me," Mac replied. "Though I did break of a date with Samantha Carter... the teacher the other night."

"Do you have any reason to believe that the first woman would have a reason to harm you, or that Ms. Carter actually had an emotional response to you breaking the date?"

"Well, I don't think Jenny has any reason to harm me. The split was pretty amicable," Mac said. "Though I know Samantha was pretty angry with me."

Grissom gives him a 'ohhhh shit' expression, because Carter is one scary mofo.

"Well, that's a good thing to keep in mind, then."

"Ummm, okay, so you woke up with the tail. Did you have any strange or abnormal sensations in the area previous to that night? Did you feel the tail appear at all? Do you remember anything unusual about your sleep or dream patterns?"

"Nope. Just went to bed and the next morning there it was," Mac replied. "You don't think Samantha did anything do you?"

Mac's tail was now in the form of a question mark.

Grissom doesn't think about laughing.

"Honestly, probably not. If she wanted you to suffer, she'd make you truly suffer. If she wanted to annoy or humiliate you, she'd be more creative. If she wanted to amuse herself... she'd make you suffer."

"Huh. I didn't know that about her," Mac said with a frown.

Mac's tail has taken a droopy turn.

"You should listen to the radio more often," he smirks.

"I'd look into other options first. An X-Ray of the tail might be a good idea, to understand its function. Or maybe a DNA profile. Although it would be exceedingly rare, I guess it could in theory be possible this was a latent genetic condition, and another set of circumstances, disease or another mutation, causes it to grow so rapidly. Mutation in general is another possibility, although I'd imagine you'd be aware of being exposed to the catalyst of the condition if it had such an unusual effect.

Unless it is an alien chemical in and of itself. Fandom is an unusual town."
