"Welcome to Ink & Holes." Yup, another e-mail went out that the class was meeting somewhere outside of the school grounds. "Everybody got those ID's we... ahem? Cool. Look around at the flash. Talk to the tattoo artists. I want you to walk out of here with at least some mehndi, henna or stick-on. Let's see some self-expression here. Or, if you want to pierce yourself, that's cool too." She looked around for Cecil and pointed to him. "Dude, they have animated tattoos!"

Okay, not quite the eldritch kind he was hoping for, but still.

"Look around, knock yourself out, we're getting ice cream afters."

Huh. Yeah, there was no way in hell Sparkle could afford half the tattoos that he was eyeing up, but punching a hole in either ear? He could do that.

And have a really involved, animated sort of discussion with the person doing his piercing about gauging them up in increments so that he could eventually get a spool in there. Because why the hell not?

Besides, if he decided he didn't like them, he could just let them grow over. Easy.

"Whatcha thinking of getting?" Kenzi asked, wandering over. She already had a flash sheet of some geometric designs in hand.

"A few holes," Sparkle replied with a shrug. "They're cheaper than ink, and I'm not going to chicken out by getting some kind of rub-on tattoo I could just get at Turtle and Canary anyway."

"Ears or elsewhere?" "What do you think, wrist or back?"

"Ears, probably. They're easier, you know? I'm not going to get anything more involved than a hole in my ear without thinking on it a bit or getting completely smashed first. And for those?"

Sparkle looked between the different designs thoughtfully.

"Depends. Which design were you thinking of? That one with the eyes is more a Cecil thing, I think."

"Yeah, it really is. I was wanting something that looked awesome but nobody else would get... and I kinda like the one with the elk or moose or whatever. Reminds me of Canada." Kenzi pointed at some of the others. "Or maybe just an arrow that I know points north?"

"So, like, up? Get it on your back on maybe your shoulder blade or something, and that way it won't just be pointing wherever your hand is," Sparkle suggested. "I mean, if you don't mind having ink on you that nobody can see, which is kind of the point, isn't it?"

"Yeeeeeah. I mean, if I wanted ink for people to comment on and ask questions about, I'd get something more out there." Kenzi nodded. "Arrow art on my back it is." She pointed at one of the aparklier earring buttons. "Get that one!"

"... That supposed to be some sort of comment about my name?"

Sparkle was trying to sound stern, but that was difficult when he was grinning like that.

"Nooooo." Kenzi grinned. "Maybe? Or maybe you can just pull it off?"

Sparkle laughed and shook his head. Today was pretty great, damn it. Everything was chill. He could take all the teasing anyone wanted to dish out, today.

"Sure, whatever. It is pretty fabulous, and it's just the starter stud anyway, right? How much do two of those cost? I think I'm gonna do both ears."

Kenzi checked. "Looks like they're three and five bucks. Cheap at the price. You're gonna look awesome." She grinned. "You could pull off a lip ring, you know?" He was in a very agreeable frame of mind, it seemed like.

Sparkle considered that for a moment, chewing on his lip in thought.

"Yeah? Maybe one of the hoop ones. I hear the studs smash up your teeth..."

Sparkle could probably actually be enabled into pretty much anything he could actually afford, today.

"One of those thin ones wouldn't hurt much, would it? And it would look really cool." Kenzi was peering at the case. "Because I know I shouldn't care, but a pierced tongue? Sounds like it would hurt."

"It probably wouldn't be that bad. But it's, like, right through the muscle, right? It's bad enough when you bite your tongue..."

He pursed his lips, and then tapped his finger against the jewelry case.

"A ring for my lip, then! A.... a labret. Yeah. That one right in the middle under your bottom lip, you know? I can see how one is before I go getting more holes poked in my face."

He actually seemed pretty proud of himself for coming up with this plan. Or agreeing to it.

"Perfect." Kenzi was charmed by this idea, and now seriously considering something for herself. Maybe an eyebrow ring? Ooooo. "Get something in purple! With silver. It'll look awesome."

"I do like purple," Sparkle mused. He'd decided all of three seconds ago that he really liked it. Usually, his favourite colour was yellow. "And the silver will go with my... um... something."

He'd figure something out. He had the technology.
