The students are greeted as they enter not by Professor Dream*, but by a small pink kitten sitting on the desk next to the sign-in sheet. Well, they will be once someone looks directly at her. Until then, the small pink kitten? Adorable, but invisible.

A stack of Cat vocabulary sheets are sitting next to the adorable pink kitten. The following is written on the board behind her:

We will be having a very special class on Cat today. Please greet your guest speaker, me, Zero Hopeless-Savage.

1. Conversation. Talk with Kitty Zero on any subject. Your end of the conversation should ideally be in Cat, however, if your limited vocabulary or the limits of the human body prevent this, feel free to use English. Kitten Zero understands it. Since Cat is such a body language-intensive language, if your statement requires actions thought vulgar by humans, please use English. Then repeat back to Kitten Zero what you think she said, in English. She will tell you if you're correct or not.

If all else fails, one mew for yes, two for no.

2. Comprehension. Kitten Zero will recite a short passage. Record what you think she said.

3. Discussion. Ask Human Zero about facets of the Cat language or Cat culture you would like to know more about. Please remember that her experience is limited.

*Unless Professor Dream is present.

With a pop, Zero turned back into her girl self, still sitting perched on the edge of the desk. "So. Any questions?"

Draco signs in and scratches kitten!Zero behind the ears.

/Um...do mice taste like chicken?/ asks Draco.

Pippi signs in and takes a vocabulary list.

"Ahh! Zero! You make an adorable cat!"

Pippi checks her list.

/I know you are not normal a cat Less-Then-One. How did you get this form today?/

Dream has wandered in and out of the classroom during Zero's lecture, providing assistance if it is needed.

As class lets out, he stands in the back of the room, in case any students have questions for him.

For a moment, Zero's whole posture is one of a cat deeply offended. She is, after all, a Real Girl and not a cat. But then she reassumes her neutral position to respond, //I wouldn't know. I've never eaten a mouse.//

A person came sawing at a hunk of wood with our guts for strings from the smelly place where food hides in the straw.

Holding a bag with sticks that makes a sound as if one was dying trapped between a limb and his body.

The female had difficulty making any other noise besides *purring noise* the small morsel of tasty flesh has joined with the humming thing that floats in the air.

Death shout bag, person, frolic, tasty flesh morsel;
Joined together at our loving place where food is plentiful.

/Professor Skeeter--/ Zero pauses, realizing that the rest of the class will not recognize her sign for 'Skeeter.' /Teacher who-changes-people, she changed me./

Blair signs in and gives kitty!Zero a couple of soft pets before sitting down.

Vicotr signs in and gives kitten!Zero some scritches. "You're so cute!"

Victor's eye widened when he saw the translation for the word he was looking for. "Okay, there's no way I'm saying that..." He looked at kitten!Zero and said in English, "Water."

/'Skeeter' is the female from the ... communication box?/

"Um... Radio?"

/... With the false color head fur that made.../

/... Into a cranial accessory in the near past? The one with the stick fetish? Who had the nasty little water creatures that made me sick? That was very nice of her to help with the learning today. I should give her some treats./

Blair studied the sheet and smiled at kitty!Zero.

/I think she changed John, not boy-who-was-wolf. But yes, that is her. She will be changing me back shortly./

/Smart boy. Have you ever tried to lick a full coat of fur dry? It's not fun./

If Zero had eyebrows in cat form, one of them would have gone up at Blair's representation of her form. /No. I smell strange to other cats. They don't quite trust me./

/Oh yes. I mix the two and their names often. I can not keep in my mind which is the one who is well fed and which is the one who is cunning./

/Yes, they are one like the other. Like littermates, but not. Very strange./

"Okay, you said that cats don't trust your smell, right?"

/That's really sad. Does the strange smell work for dogs? Do they not see you as a cat?/

"Mew," for yes.

/I don't know about dogs, but a wolf chased me. He couldn't seem to tell me from a cat./

Molly signed in and gave kitten!Zero a few quick pets. "You're pink! That is so cool!"
