Kitty had sent an email to the class to let them know to come to the Danger Shop for class, and to dress in comfortable clothing that they could move in. When they got there they'd find Kitty in workout clothes and standing in what looked like a moderately sized dance studio. There were mirrors and a barre and everything.

"Hey, guys. Welcome to Dance," she greeted them. "For those who don't know me, my name's Kitty Pryde, and I've been dancing for what feels like forever. My personal favorites are ballet and modern dance, which are things we'll be covering, but we're doing to be learning the basics of those and other types of dance through this session. You're not going to be an expert in any one thing by the end, but that likely wasn't going to happen in seven weeks anyway, and if you ever want some extra time or pointers, I'm more than happy to help you out there. Just let me know. So we're going to be meeting in here, and make sure to dress in something you can move in. Things like jeans are restricting, so stick to clothes that you'd wear to the gym. And if there are ever shoes or anything required, they'll be Danger Shop-provided, so no worries there. Otherwise just make sure your feet are comfy.

"It's the first week, so we're going to take it a little easier. I want you to go around the room and tell me who you are and if there's a particular dance you want to learn. Once we've done that, we're going to work on stretching so it doesn't take forever to get through at the beginning of next week. All right, who wants to go first?"

Who are you, and is there anything you want to learn?

This was the best class to start off a Monday morning with. Kathy came into the Danger Shop wearing a big grin and her normal gymnastics training attire.

"Hi, I'm Kathy," she said when it was her turn. "Rising sophomore, I think is the term?" No, Ms. Pryde hadn't asked for grade, but after several semesters of this, it was kind of habit to include it. "I'd like to learn something like the samba, I think. I grew up in Koreatown in L.A. which actually has a really large Latino population, and I always wanted to learn some of the cool dances I'd see sometimes."

"I didn't expect anyone to come up with that one," Kitty smiled. "Good choice."

"Thanks," Kathy said, offering a little smile in return. "I'm just really excited to get a chance to learn it."

"Okay, so I'm Sparkle," and if anyone so much as snickered at his name he was going to wheel on them and glare, "and I... don't have any formal training in pretty much any dance, ever. But I like to sing and I enjoy the theatre, so I figured it would just kind of make sense to take this class."

And yes, it was weird for him, taking a class because it would make sense to do.

"You won't need any formal training here," Kitty told him. "We're here to have fun. And it sounds like this'll be good for you then."

"Looking forward to it, then," Sparkle decided. "I happen to be a fan of fun."

It seemed way less likely to leave him winded than gym class last semester had, at least.

"Hey, I'm Alana," Alana said, gesturing in a vague wave. "Guess I'm a junior now. I'm here 'cause dance is good exercise and I'd like to be more graceful. I took a couple classes when I was a kid, but it's been a long time."

Wryly smiling, she raised the top of her wings over her shoulders and added, "Oh, and -- before anybody asks -- the wings are real but they're pretty much vestigial."

"It's a good look on you," Kitty said. Like people with wings were new to her.

"Thanks," Alana said, with a little laugh. Acceptance and a compliment -- she had nothing to complain about.

"Um, hi!" She wasn't nervous, she wasn't nervous, she was not nervous. "I'm Rapunzel, um, and I'm -- I don't know? I guess I'm a junior? I turned sixteen yesterday, so I think that's right?" She probably ought to figure that out, huh? "Um, anyway, I've experimented with a lot of different kinds of dances, but I guess I'm most interested in stuff you can do...with a partner? Or in a group."

Since she had no experience there, whatsoever, and all.

"And this is Pascal," she added, gesturing to the chameleon on her shoulder, who waved helpfully. "I don't know if he's gonna come every week, but, uh, we had a little...separation anxiety this morning. He's not used to my leaving him."

"We will be doing some group stuff," Kitty assured her, and looked to the chameleon. "Should we make up a little area for him or something for the weeks he is here...?"

She had a dragon. She understood.

"Nah, he's fine," Rapunzel said, waving a hand. "He'll probably stay here the whole time, or hide in my hair or something. He's not fussy.

Pascal would have loved an area, thank you for speaking for him, Rapunzel. Hmph.

"Um, I'm Kira, and I'm up for learning any kind of dance," she said. "I didn't really pick what I'm taking--" Thanks, Mom "--but I could probably use some help with being graceful and coordinated."

"We can do that," Kitty told her. "Hopefully it'll be fun for you especially if you didn't pick it."
