"Graduation is approaching, and there's an excellent chance that something insane will happen during the graduation ceremony," Anakin said. "As graduates and attendees at the ceremony, you will be faced with bewildered guests who either have never been to a graduation where all of the students inexplicable turn into small children halfway through--this has happened--or one where aliens or Vikings attack the ceremony. Part of what we are learning is how to finesse that kind of situation. Those of you who are ones--" Anakin pointed them out, "--are playing the part of parents and friends of graduates. Those of you who are twos--the other half--are yourselves. Lie outright, obfuscate, tell the truth, erase their memories, whatever you feel is the proper procedure, then explain your choice to me. Our scenario is..."

Anakin paused to think. "...a rain of toads. Toads wearing top hats and carrying canes, who then put on a dance to 'Hello My Baby' on the stage before trying to beat the senior class to death with those canes." He smiled. "This scenario probably won't happen."

The thing about Victor's life was that no one in it was likely to need to be lied to about tap-dancing toads. But he was a rotten liar most of the time, so that probably was for the best.

He was ready to attempt to lie, either way.

"I... don't get it," Generic Parental Figure Joker observed huffily. "I am impressed by the special effects, but I don't understand the symbolism. At my graduation, we just had the school choir and the ROTC Color Guard."

"Um." Victor blinked at Joker for a minute before realizing he was in character. "Oh, well, the toad's a, um, native species to the island?"

That would have sounded better if it hadn't come out like a question. Victor winced internally and continued in a steadier voice. "And so we wanted to incorporate them into the ceremony, but in a cute way. Some people here are crazy good with computers, so they made it happen."

"And you thought that bad vaudeville and a vicious attack was the best way to celebrate your toads? Someone clearly has no sense of proper decorum."

"I agree, sir," Victor said. "We'll have a firm talk with the, um, perpetrators. Some people here don't have the most mature senses of humor."

"'Some people'? You were up there participating in the pantomime with everyone else! Why did you, personally, feel the need to do that?"
