Self-Expression- Monday- 4th period

Kitty had really, really considered just canceling class today, but like last week she was sitting on top of her desk and trying not to think too hard about the fact that she technically hadn't been her when she did this last week.

"We're pretty much copying last week, because we can, and I'm not sure how many people's brains are up to a normal class this week," Kitty said. "I know mine's not. So we're going to make class today helpful. I want you to express how you're doing or what you think a day after everything's normal. You don't have to go into detail or admit anything really personal if you don't want to, but I want you to give me an honest expression of this whole mess. So, let's start, and then once we get through everyone you can go."

Because who really wanted to be here right now? Thought so.

"I'm not even sure I was human for part of it," Raven admitted. "With just one less person showing me kindness."

Mind you, he was a pretty major person.

All right, she had no idea if this sort of thing was even appropriate, in class, but they were supposed to be expressing themselves, and, well, there were worse things than being punished, and certainly worse reasons to be punished, in the first place.

Which was why she was vacating her seat in order to take one next to Raven, so she could pull the chair close and reach out an arm, to pull the other girl into an embrace. Unless that was awkward? Eleanor was new to affection, and hugs in particular, so perhaps it was, and if so she was going to drop her arm and act as though she came over for a different reason.

"I'm so, so sorry," she said. "I had ... it sounds like we had the same ... or similar, at least. I ... but it doesn't mean you're ... a bad person. If that's what you're afraid of."

It was what she was afraid of. And somehow, it was easier to believe it of Raven than of herself.

Raven, for one, was not the sort to turn down a hug. Hugs were just one of the things that were missing from the other Ravens' lives. "Thanks," she said softly. "The same goes for you. We're lucky that we get to live the lives where we can show we're good."

"Where we can be good," Eleanor said gently. "Where we learned what it means to care about other people. Those other versions of us never had that opportunity."

At least, Eleanor's hadn't; she was only assuming the same for Raven. But if one person had made the difference, then she doubted sincerely that Raven's life had been filled with caring loved ones.
