Self-Expression- Monday- 4th period

Kitty had really, really considered just canceling class today, but like last week she was sitting on top of her desk and trying not to think too hard about the fact that she technically hadn't been her when she did this last week.

"We're pretty much copying last week, because we can, and I'm not sure how many people's brains are up to a normal class this week," Kitty said. "I know mine's not. So we're going to make class today helpful. I want you to express how you're doing or what you think a day after everything's normal. You don't have to go into detail or admit anything really personal if you don't want to, but I want you to give me an honest expression of this whole mess. So, let's start, and then once we get through everyone you can go."

Because who really wanted to be here right now? Thought so.

"I was the person I would have been if my birth mom raised me," Bay said. "Except a guy. He couldn't figure out who the heck this Bay girl was supposed to be."

She pursed her lips. "He didn't do anything bad or embarrassing or anything, but it's still gonna be a while before I feel all right about it. Like, my body got snatched, but I was the one doing the snatching"

"And there wasn't anything you could do about it," she said sympathetically. "For the record, I'm glad to have you back."

"Thanks, I'm glad to be back," Bay answered. "Even if it's going to take a few more days before I totally believe my life is mine again."

"It's oddly violative, isn't it?" Eleanor agreed with a shudder. "Like a sanctuary has been taken from you. Your skin is no longer your own."

"Not just your skin, your everything," Bay nodded. "My room's full of stuff he left behind now. Kind of wish there was a forwarding address so I could just mail it off."

Eleanor made a face. "I think if they'd left anything behind, I'd burn it," she said. "I keep taking showers and trying to scrub enough skin off that I'm just me again."

"But you had it worse than me, didn't you?" Bay asked. "Not that being Dominic was fun, but he was still basically a decent person."

Eleanor couldn't help shuddering. "I was ... a monster, and someone who wasn't even a person at all," she admitted. "I don't know which was worse. Probably the latter. The former was just cruel. The latter ... I'm sorry if either of them upset you."

Really. Blanket apologies were being issued, on that one.

Bay shook her head by way of reassurance. "No, no, I just saw them in class. Sorry you had to go through that."
