It's All Fun & Games, Monday, Period 2

Jack was sitting in a beanbag chair when the students got to class this week, though her coiled posture suggested this was something she didn't do all that often. Other beanbags and cushions were arranged throughout the room, and the desks had been pushed to the side.

"Y'know, it's been a long winter and I'm tired," she greeted the students. "I think today we're gonna focus on the 'and games' in the class name. We have Scrabble, Twister, Connect Four, chess and Monopoly. Pick one, grab a buddy or two, and try not to cheat or be a sore loser."

And with that she was out.

Pick a game and get to playing! Throwing the pieces when you lose not encouraged.

Karolina glanced at the games and then, deciding she had no particular preference for anything, glanced around for a person to maybe play with.

Maybe not Twister, though.

If this had been yesterday, there was no doubt that Cade would have been asking about Twister.

But today's Cade, with neatly trimmed hair, no goatee or tattoos and a shirt with sleeves to it wouldn't dream of doing such a thing. "Want to try chess?" he said. "My dad plays my galaxy's version all the time."

Karolina... kind of tilted her head at his appearance. Something wasn't quite right there.

"Uh, sure?" she said. "I'm definitely not going to be any good, though."

"I'll teach you," Cade said with an easy smile. "Compared to the game we play at home, this one's really easy. My grandfathers used to let me win."

Karolina let out a sheepish little chuckle. "Maybe in comparison, but I've never really heard chess described as easy before."

Granted, it wasn't really her friends' style, anyway.

"Our pieces eat each other," Cade said with a grin. "They're holograms, but still."

Wasn't going to stop Karolina's eyes from widening a bit.

"Oh. I don't think these ones will do that."

She really hoped they didn't.

"It's pretty good incentive to get better fast," Cade admitted.

"Yeah, I bet." It also sounded like great incentive to stop playing, if you asked Karolina. Who was maybe a bit more sensitive than some. "So, uh... You really think you can teach me?"

"Sure," Cade said. "I'm a good teacher."

Since...about four hours ago, apparently.

"... Are you?"

Admittedly, Karolina hadn't spent a lot of time around Cade, but that still seemed a bit off. Along with several other things about him, really.

Cade nodded with a grin. "At least when it comes to games."

Zee went through the games mentioned. Most of them were frustrating sounding.

"Anyone up for Twister?" The only one that didn't sound like it would make her scream with impatience.

Who is very interested to see if anybody picks Twister.

Meh.
