The radio broadcast seemed to say that all the children had departed but Paige still took a look around for any errant young people when she arrived. It seemed like they all truly had left and she was a little bit relieved.

"Good morning," she said, leaning against the desk at the front of the room. "Looks like some of you might have had a busy weekend with some interesting versions of children. I hope you all got some good sleep last night, at least. Today, we're going to talk about clairvoyance."

And this was something she knew a lot about, obviously. "Clairvoyance is the ability to gain information about an object, person, location or physical event through means other than the known human senses such as extra-sensory perception. For instance, my area of clairvoyance is dreamwalking. I'm able to slip in and out of people's dreams and see their dreamscapes if they're not guarded. Even then, I can still tend to get through. It just takes work."

And it exhausted her. "Clairvoyance refers to the supposed paranormal ability to see persons and events that are distant in time or space. It can be divided into roughly three classes: retrocognition, premonition, and the perception of contemporary events happening outside of the range of normal perception. Skeptics think it's fraud and self-delusion." Paige smiled. "I'd invite all those skeptics to SciLo or this place and see what they think and how they explain things once they're visit is done. I'm sure they'd try to rationalize all they see and the people they meet but they'd be lying to themselves and they'd know it."

They'd still lie. People's minds were very hard to change when it came to things they didn't want to believe in.

"For today, I'm giving you all a choice. I know it was a tough weekend so we're done with the lecture. Feel free to leave. If you'd like though, you can stay and I'll give your aura a read, see what I might see there. Or, if you're really curious, I can try and check out your dreamscape. No guarantees there, though."

If you'd rather check out what Paige can read from you, she's available to do so. Aura reading is easy, dreamscape is a little harder but she'll give it a go.

[And if you do choose this one, let me know 1) if she'd see anything or if the character is too protected to see more than basic black and white 2) what she'd see if she did see something]

Sholeh was almost tempted to find out what her aura looked like, but her nervousness outweighed her curiosity. With one or two backward glances, she ducked her shoulders and headed for the door.

She's around, if she's needed.

The idea of finding out what his aura looked like was... tempting, on some level, but Toby was a bit too paranoid to ask about it in a class full of other people.

Which would be why he dawdled after class had been dismissed, waiting until his classmates had left before approaching Paige.

"Um, could I ask you something?" Technically you just did, Toby.

"Go ahead," Paige said, nodding. "Ask away."

"I'd like to know what my aura looks like," Toby admitted. "But I didn't want to ask in class, when. When other people could hear." In case there was something weird, he left unspoken.

"I can do that," she said, already taking in his aura. But, she had another question for him. "Were you afraid of what I might see? Or embarrassed?"

"Not you specifically," Toby admitted. From what he could gleam from classes so far, she seemed trustworthy, at least. "Other people, though." Which was as good as admitting there was something he expected her to find. Namely that whole telepathy thing.

"You're afraid of something," Paige said, raising an eyebrow. "What could be so bad that you're scared of others finding out?"

"The kind of thing people would love to use against me, if they knew," Toby said.

Paige sat back and took a better look at his aura, trying to figure out what he might mean. She looked back at him.

"I'm...getting the sense you're a clairvoyant sort too," she said after some silence.

Toby nodded. "I'm a telepath," he clarified. "I hear people's thoughts- nearly everyone's, unless they have some sort of ability to block me out. Which I didn't even know was possible until I came here."

"Ah." Well, that had to be quite the burden, didn't it? For someone as young as he was, she supposed it was difficult. "Your aura reads like a voyant from home. Almost like a seer's."

"Yeah?" Toby said, interested. "What are they like, in your world?"

"My world...isn't as open minded as this place," Paige said carefully. "People like myself aren't readily accepted because they're different. Seers are important. There are orders of clairvoyance and while they aren't uncommon, they're not the voyants you usually find either."

"Sounds a little like my world," Toby said. "Except there's only a few people out there who even know that telepaths exist."

"That's not uncommon," Paige said with a nod. "Though, why do you keep it a secret here on an island that seems to be teeming with people such as you and I?"

My back hurts.
