Deep Thoughts Club [Tuesday after classes]

Anakin walked into Professor Logan's classroom with a surly look on his face.

He reached for his quote book and scrawled the first one he found onto the board.

He stared at what he had written.

Huh.

He shrugged, reached for a Twinkie, and waited for the rest of the ~~emo brooders~~ deep thinkers to show up.

"Um. You've sort of been cast."

Rory looked very apologetic.

"I've been what?"

"You're, um, in the play," Rory said quietly, wincing.

Anakin closed his eyes. "You're messing with me, right?"

"Um, no. You're Snout, and Bottom's understudy," Rory said.

"I'm who and what?"

"The Wall. Um, and Xander's fill-in person."

"I'm a wall?" Anakin blinked. "I don't remember this part of your summary."

"Sort of. There's a play in the play, and your character plays the wall in the little play," Rory explained.

"Uh-huh," Anakin said, still looking terribly confused. "Guess I'm really going to have to read this thing now."

He stuck his lower lip out. "And I had hoped to be able to sit in the audience for this one."

"Hey, at least your boss is someone who's nice and not scary," Rory pointed out.

Anakin smiled. "That's true. And you'd never make me play the banthabell. Or wear tights. Or do jazz hands."

He looked very hopeful. "Right?"

"I will never make you do jazz hands or play the banthabell," Rory promised.

Anakin looked relieved.

For a moment.

"Wait a second..."

"Yes?" Rory asked, wide-eyed.

"You didn't say no to the tights."

"Oh, I didn't."

Anakin whacked his head down on the desk. "I have to wear tights again?" he whined.

"...maybe."

Rory gingerly patted the back of his head.

Anakin let out a terribly manly whine.

"I'll make it up to you," Rory promised. "It's just, um, that's sort of how they dressed back then."

Anakin turned his head towards her. "Making this up to me would be good," he said. "How did I even end up in this play? I haven't given anyone fashion advice in months."

"Pirate," she said simply. "And technically that's not true, given what we talked about at the dance."

"Ex-pirate," Anakin muttered. "Soon to be departing this plane of existence. Oh, how sad."

"Hey, I like him," Rory said. "And this'll be fun."
