It being the first day, the class was meeting in a regular classroom instead of the Danger Shop, where the majority of subsequent classes were likely to be held. Thor looked around at his students, pleased to see so many familiar faces.

"Welcome to More Questing!" he boomed. "If you participated in the class I held last semester, the idea behind this class is a similar one. If you did not, the purpose is simple: I am here to assist you in preparing yourself to deal with the kinds of tasks you may find yourself needing to complete as part of a quest. And a quest could be many things! Perhaps you are a young hero, eager to prove your cunning or strength. Or you have had a quest thrust upon you, and must act quickly to save someone you care about. And sometimes a quest could be a coming-of-age, proving that you are ready to become an adult member of your community."

"Now," he smiled again at the group. "Many of you I am familiar with already, but that does not mean you are familiar with each other. And so, as is traditional during the first week, I shall have you introduce yourselves, with your name, age, and a topic that you'd like to learn about in this class."

Once introductions were finished, Thor spoke once more. "Also, if anyone here is interested in the position of Teaching Assistant, please come speak to me."

"I'm Emma, I'm..." fifteen "...sixteen, and how to get food?" When in doubt, ask about food.

"Good to see you again, Emma!" Thor replied. "And proper sustenance is indeed of great importance if you expect to embark on any sort of journey."

"I'm Alex Aaron," Alex said, "I'm sixteen, and I'm interested in ~~Thor's arms--wait, what?~~ how to find the thing you're looking for. Or even how to start looking for it." Such as, say, a sword Gorgon had stolen off your corpse. For example.

There really were a lot of familiar faces in this class. "Well met, Alex!" he nodded. "My friends and I have sought out many missing or stolen items during our time as adventuring warriors. I will be sure to share with you all the knowledge I gained during those quests."

"I am Loki, as you already know," Loki said brightly. "And I am here because it seemed of interest."

And the stalking of his brother. Mustn't forget that.

"Ah, but these introductions are also so that your classmates might know you as well, dear brother," Thor pointed out with a smile. "Unless they all know you as well." Which he wouldn't put past Loki, to be honest. "I hope my class shall keep your interest, then."

"Hey, I'm Alex," she began. "I'm sixteen, and I'd like to know about escape plans in case I'm trapped somewhere."

That seemed important.

Another Alex! And also the only person in the class Thor didn't recognize. For that, she got an extra-wide smile. "I have been held captive a time or two during some of my adventures," Thor admitted with an easy shrug. "As you can see, I escaped. So I do have a trick or two up my sleeve in that arena."

"I am Snow White," Snow said~~, having absolutely no clue she was in a class with the daughter of an alternate version of herself, ow~~. "I'm sixteen, and I want to learn anything I can that will help me retake my kingdom."

As you do.

"Greetings, Snow White," Thor replied. "A most noble endeavor, and I can only hope that what I have to teach in this class will be of use to you."

"I'm Billy Kaplan, I'm 17, and I'd like to know how to prepare for the unknown. Which, I know might sound kind of vague and dumb," he admitted, "but I'd like to be as prepared as I can for whatever the universe feels like throwing my way."

Josh arrived with coffee and pastries after the students had left. "Good Lord, you are really tall," he said, staring up at Thor.

That's not why he was here, by the way, but the obvious needed to be pointed out first.

Thor smiled wide at Josh's not-quite-greeting. "My-" what did he consider Jane, exactly? Although he was familiar with the Midgardian term 'girlfriend', the word still felt odd on his tongue even after all this time, "-Jane, is both amused and exasperated by this. Often, at the same time."

"Well, in my experience, women are often amused and exasperated at the same time."

At least when they were talking to Josh.

"Anyway, Loki said you could teach me to smite? I brought coffee!"

Don't try to bribe the demigod, Josh.

"My brother would say such a thing," Thor said, with an exasperated sigh of his own. "Smiting is serious business, friend..." he trailed off, looking at Josh expectantly.

"I'd only smite the truly deserving," Josh assured him. "I'm very trustworthy. I worked for two presidents!"

Man, I am so out of it today.
