It's All Fun & Games, Monday, Period 2

"Hey, minions," Jack said laconically once all the students who were going to come were more or less assembled in the gym. She was wearing shorts that showed off her leg tattoos and a Fandom High t-shirt and had a whistle around her neck, the better to look like a gym teacher stereotype. "I'm Jack. Welcome to It's All Fun and Games. Some of you might end up calling it gym class."

"Anyhow, I'm not going to disappoint you guys by skipping the first week introductions. Gimme your name, age, and favorite game or sport. Once we're done with that, go over to the obstacle course and follow the instructions. I wanna see how in shape you are or aren't."

She paused, then added, "I'm going to want a TA. Volunteers can talk to me after class."

"Karolina Dean, seventeen. And... I kind of liked basketball, back at my old school?"

Mostly because being tall had been an advantage. She wasn't really a sporty kind of person.

"Sparkle, seventeen, and hockey."

Short and to the point. And really, he wasn't a huge fan of hockey, but he wasn't a huge fan of many sports, and as a Canadian, it seemed like the most logical go-to answer.

Either that, or curling. Could he take his introduction back and say curling again? Nah. He was too busy looking around the room and just daring someone to make something of his name, instead.

It was tradition.

"Korra, eighteen, and pro-bending." Because obviously Jack would know what that was, Korra.

"Hey, I'm Zee," Zeela answered when it was her turn. She'd decided she was just going to pretend she belonged here unless and until someone said otherwise. "I'm sixteen and my favorite sport is roller derby!"

Because it was the best and most awesome sport around, okay?

Stretches? Easy. And Sparkle didn't work out or anything, but he was old hat at running for long distances, mostly dodging cops. The weights... He was going to stick with the light ones, and hate everything ever afterwards.

And following those up with climbing?

By the time he got to the bean bag, he was less 'tossing,' and more 'angrily flinging in a cranky overhand.'

He had step six down pat, though.

After several semesters of taking gym and weapons classes, Zeela considered this stuff to be easy. She breezed through the stretching and the laps, used the 10-pound weights, and scaled the wall quickly--using the footholds more than she would have liked, true, but she was still up and over relatively quickly.

Getting the beanbag through the clown's mouth was a little more of an ordeal; she had a good throwing arm, but her aim was still spotty. Look, throwing was really different than using a bow, okay?!
