Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

It was a new year, and with the new year came the new spring term, and Fandom High was all set to welcome its new students, along with those just returning from holiday trips home. It was a familiar setting for the latter bunch: there was the requisite bonfire, with tables and chairs scattered around it, as well as the buffet table with moddable warm food and drinks.

And of course, name tags and lists of Big and Little Siblings as well as roommates. Yep, the weather was okay (if snowy) for early January, and Fandom was all ready to celebrate the start of a new term.

[OCD up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Well, that clearly couldn't be aimed at Chuck.

Both Chuck and Max turned their heads towards Raven simultaneously, though the bulldog obviously looked happier about it. He pulled his behind off of Chuck's foot and dashed as closely towards Raven as his leash would let him.

Raven moved forward and crouched down to greet Max properly. "Hi!" She said. "What's your name?" She looked up at Chuck.

Oh. He didn't look nearly as friendly.

"His name," Chuck said, sounding only a little annoyed, really, "is Max. Hello."

"Hi, Max," Raven said, reaching to scritch the dog's ears. "I'm Raven," she offered to both of them.

"So you're the roommate, then."

Could be worse. Could've been Isabelle. "I'm Chuck. Just keep your business on your end of the room and we'll get along fine."

Unless the wind was blowing a certain way, Chuck woke up on the wrong side of his bed, or a hummingbird flapped its wings on the other end of the world.

Yeah, he was absolutely no Theo. Time to go back to wrapping herself up like a burrito if she wanted to sleep in her natural form.

"I've lived with boys most of my life," Raven said calmly. "You have nothing to worry about from me."

"Good," Chuck said. "I'll make sure Max stays on my end."

Max, who was currently attempting to crawl as closely to Raven as he could, sniffing all the way. He liked you!

"I plan to be out of here by the end of the semester." He'd fail.

"Max is welcome any time he wants." He somehow seemed slightly less likely to destroy all her stuff. "What brings you to Fandom, then? If you're so keen to get out."

"My father sent me here between semesters at the academy," Chuck said. Was his displeasure showing? Maybe a little. "It doesn't matter; this is just a side track."

"An academy," Raven said. "How fancy."

Yeah, she wasn't impressed, Chuck.

"You'll barely have time to unpack then, I suppose."
