Sex Cultures

Grissom comes in to the class room after the bell rings, and stands behind his desk. He would come off as rather authoritative, if he didn't have some pink frosting in his beard. Dork.

Lecture on Issues Regarding Sex Education

"Discussion for today - what would you, not your friends, not your parents, not people from your hometown, you, like to see in a Sex Ed program? Or do you believe high schools should offer them at all?"

Homework: "I want you to read over this handout. You'll be needing it for Thursday. cackle"

"Personally," Cally says, "I'd like to see proper, like, education, you know? Not putting moral standards and stuff, but teaching people the facts. Though that probably won't ever happen, sadly."

Shep signs in and snorts a little. "I'd like to see them start around 5th grade. By high school these days, it's *way* too late. When they have them, they should cover the *ahem* how's and why's. Disease, pregnancy, contraception and they should at least introduce the different moral issues regarding pre-marital sex, homosexual activity and reproduction or the lack thereof."

"High School's too late. If you're offering it that late, it should cover everything beyond the basics. We've already figured most of those out."

Anders signs in. "I, uh, gotta agree with Cally about teaching people the facts, without any of the opinionated stuff that goes with it."

Behind his hand, he mutters, "I might've been less of a spaz, that way."

Bel signs in. "I'm not really sure," he said. "Where I'm from you learn by seeing and doing, mainly. There's no teaching."

"Sex Ed should cover all the bases, the pros and the cons of Sex; the joys and the woes of it. Nothing should be left out because the kids deserve to know everything about something their peers do all the time."

"Sex ed should be more comprehensive," Pip said. "Not just a clinical "this is what you do, these are the horrible, terrible, awful things that could happen to you if you do it." Talk about the joy of sex. But also be sure to talk about contraceptives and abstinence. As much as I was joking about their gloom and doom thing, it is important to know the dangers. Believe me on this one. I've seen enough of the mercenary company running around complaining about STDs."

"Um, something along the lines of 'these are myths' 'these are not myths' um, somethings. Also? Girls should learn about certain things by age ten." Alanna was staring intently at her desk, her face a nice crimson color.
