Literature 101- Thursday- 4th period

"Hey, everybody," Jess greeted the class. "First of all, it's time for you guys to pass up your book reports on the meta for The Lord of the Flies and all its super cheerful symbolism."

She waited for everyone to pass up their papers, then hopped up on her desk to take a seat. "You'll be getting your copies of the meta for A Tale of Two Cities on your way out, but first I want to talk a little about the last book and see what you guys thought."

"Mainly, I want to know what you thought," Jess said. "But I'm also kind of curious to hear about what you think happened to these boys once they got off the island. Do they go on to live happy lives? Are they scarred forever?"

Rilla bit her lower lip. "Well, even if they try to pretend like nothing's happened, they'd be lying to themselves. They might be happy, but it won't be the same sort of happiness."

She'd thought a lot about that, especially in light of her own life. When the boys came back, it would never be the same. Walter would always be gone.
