Victor grabbed a little of everything, and was about to grab some Dr. Pepper when he saw that someone had stocked the ~~oh so modded~~ soda machine with Surge. He was so excited that he bought two cans instead of one.

Anyone who managed to stop in might see him sticking three fish sticks to the back of each hand and pretending to be Canadian.

"Dude," Pip said, standing over Victor with a full tray. "What are you doing?"

"Pretending to be Professor Logan," he said matter-of-factually. "You got a problem with that, bub?"

"Not really. Who's Professor Logan?"

"Teacher from my old school. He has a set of three claws that pop out from the back of each hand. Hence..." he trailed off, waving his fishstick claws around before putting his hand to his mouth and eating one of them.

"So how are you? I didn't see you at the dance on Friday."

"Sick," Pip said, sitting at the table and staring at a fishtick uncertainly before eating it. "Some sort of nasty headcold thing. Spent most of the weekend in my room trying to sleep it off."

"That sucks. You look better, though."

He dunked one of his fishstick claws in tarter sauce before munching on it. "Man, I love this school. I'd probably get detention for this back at Xavier's. Speaking of school...do you plan on being here until you graduate or is this just a temporary thing?"

Pip moved to lit a cigarette, stopped, nodded at Victor, and put it away. "You know, my friend, I really have no idea."

"Well...what do you wanna be when you're older, then?" Victor asked, taking a sup of Surge.

Pip shrugged. "Chances are I'll be a soldier of some type. I mean, fighting's what I know and what I do best. If you believe in family destiny, probably a soldier for hire."

"But let's say you couldn't be a soldier. Say you get into an accident that...I dunno...chops off your leg and you have to be in a wheelchair the rest of your life. What about then?"

Pip eyed Victor. "Can we think of an assumption that doesn't involve me losing more body parts than I already have?"

"Oops...sorry, Pip. Okay, never mind. You pick the topic now."

He blushed and pretended that his lunch was the most fascinating thing in the world.

Pip waved a hand. "Alright, we assume that, for whatever reason, I can't be a soldier. Then... I don't really know. Maybe a musician. I mean, with my guitar playing and all."

"You play guitar?" he asked, because he honestly hadn't known. Then again, he hadn't spent a lot of time around Pip, either. "That's pretty cool. How long have you been playing?"

"Since I was nine or ten. Electric and acoustic. I played for the auditions. I thought I had told you?"

Victor shook his head. "I don't remember. Sorry if I forgot."
