Literature 101- Thursday- 4th period

Believe it or not, Jess was not in any kind of costume today. Mostly because her costume was not entirely work appropriate. You'd see it later.

"Okay, so I know we're in the middle of the meta for the Catcher in the Rye, and your book reports are still due next week," she began. "But since it's Halloween, I figured we'd get in the spirit of things."

And now everyone was going to get passed a copy of The Raven to read along with.

"Welcome to Edgar Allen Poe, who was a poet who was very good at the scary, and this is his most well-known piece. We're going to read it aloud, and if you could be as in character as possible when you get to your part, that'd be great. I'll start off."

Oooh! A poem that Sholeh was actually familiar with. She'd read Mr. Poe one evening when she'd been in the mood for something deliciously scary.

"Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor. "Wretch," I cried, "thy God hath lent thee—by these angels he hath sent thee Respite—respite and nepenthe, from thy memories of Lenore; Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!" Quoth the Raven "Nevermore.""
