Valentine's Day Dance. The Gym. 8.30 pm

The gym was decorated, the DJs were playing, and the punch was not yet spiked.

Fandom High's Valentine's Day Dance had begun.

"I support Professors Skeeter and Autolycus's secret romance," Rory said, deadpan. "And honestly, if I hadn't done it, Angela or someone else would have."

"Probably," Anakin said, nodding slowly. "And it's not like the beings here will be spending a whole lot of time looking at the decoration, right?"

"And like I said, could mean anything. I mean, could be...um...." Rory bit her lip. "Rose and Anders. Yes. Clearly that's what I meant, anyway. And what I'll be telling anyone who asks."

Anakin snickered. "Right. Of course. How silly of me not to have thought of that myself."

He gave her hand a squeeze before finally dropping it.

"Exactly," Rory nodded. "I mean, sure there's Cally, and I think Rose is kinda sort of dating Jarod - " She stopped. "By the way, are you busy Sunday?"

"We're finally having a meeting for Into the Black around 1pm, but other than that I don't have anything going on," Anakin replied. "Why?"

Rory shrugged. "Parker sort of invited us to a thing. A movie thing, actually, at the...um, place where Becky works. With Parker and Jarod, and maybe some other people. I'm pretty sure it'd be okay if we turned up after your meeting. Um, if you want to go, that is."

Anakin blinked. "Parker invited us to watch movies at a brothel?" He snickered. "Yeah, count me in, if it's okay that I'd be running a little late."

"I think it's like, an all-dayish thing, so it shouldn't be a problem," Rory said, flushing. "And yes, brothel. Let's not talk about that part. Or that one of the hookers looks like me and throws sharp things. Though Parker said she'll be on good behavior, apparently."

"Parker can make Becky behave herself?" Anakin smiled. "I'll believe that when I see it."

"I'm pretty sure Parker can make just about anyone listen to her," Rory replied. "Plus, Jarod's nice and I guess he lives there, so maybe he can help with the non-stabination."

Anakin thought about it. "Yeah, you have a point. Parker does have a habit of getting what she wants." He smiled at Rory. "And I'll try not to do anything that could lead to stabination."

Rory returned the smile. "And I'll try to be invisible, so she can't snark on me and you won't be forced to leap to my defense." She gave him a stern look. "And even if she is mean to me, let it go. Completely not worth it."

Anakin looked innocent. "I'll try."

"Best I can ask for," Rory sighed. She glanced over towards a group of people. "Um, I'm going to go talk to Angela, see what she's up to. She promised to let me borrow Marty." She shot him a look. "Unless you, um, mind?"

"That's fine," Anakin said, smiling. "I'm going to go talk with Parker. Catch up later?"

"Definitely," Rory nodded, waving as she walked off.

Anakin totally wasn't ogling her as she walked away.

Not even a little.
